The SmackDown GM will lace up his boots once again.
WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis is all set to return to in-ring action to settle the score with ‘The Ring General’ Gunther, who has been berating and even attacking Aldis since losing the Undisputed title match at Night of Champions.
The Ring General attacked Aldis two weeks ago, after the latter refused to add Gunther to the Undisputed title match at SummerSlam. He announced a tag team match where Gunther will team up with Sami Zayn to take on CM Punk and Cody Rhodes at SNME on July 18.
Gunther attacked Aldis after the announcement, but acting GM Adam Pearce revealed the following week that Gunther attacked Aldis before he could reveal that a win in the tag team match at SNME would add Sami and Gunther to the title match at SummerSlam.
However, Gunther and Sami failed to win as Aldis returned at MSG during SNME and cost Gunther the match. After the SummerSlam kick-off, WWE announced a singles clash between Gunther and Aldis. This match means Aldis will have to lace up his wrestling boots once again and step into the squared circle to compete.
When was Nick Aldis’ last match in WWE?
Nick Aldis has not wrestled on WWE, while his last in-ring appearance came in 2023 in TNA. The SummerSlam showdown will mark his in-ring debut in the promotion.
Despite joining the company as a backstage producer and later as the on-screen General Manager of SmackDown. Aldis has spent his career wrestling in TNA and multiple independent promotions.
While Aldis transitioned into a backstage role from an active competitor, he did not retire due to any injury, which means the speculations about his return were always prevalent, and now, with the SummerSlam match, Aldis will make his debut.
Aldis’ last in-ring appearance in TNA came during the July 16, 2023, edition of Impact. On the other hand, his last in-ring appearance, as per Cagematch, came at an ACW Bluegrass Con event on July 10, 2023, where he partook in a five-way match for the vacant ACW title.
Now, the SmackDown General Manager will lace up his boots once again to take on Gunther in his WWE debut at SummerSlam.
