The former Divas Champion returned at WrestleMania 42.
Former Divas Champion Paige shocked WWE fans with her highly anticipated return at WrestleMania 42. The Bella Twins (Nikki & Brie Bella) were set to battle for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles in a fatal four-way match.
However, Nikki, who was injured, announced before the match that she had not been medically cleared and revealed that Paige would be replacing her. The duo of the two former Divas Champions captured the Women’s Tag Team titles, a title reign that is still intact after three title defenses.
The duo has been the target of multiple tag teams chasing gold since their title win. Most recently, they were attacked by Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid). Now, during the June 19 edition of SmackDown, Jayne challenged Paige for a singles match on next week’s show, which is in London.
While the former Divas Champion, since her return, has partaken in multiple matches, this will be the first time she partakes in singles action, and ahead of the match, let us take a look at the last time she competed in a singles match in WWE.
Paige faced Sasha Banks in her last singles match in WWE
As mentioned, Paige has not wrestled in a singles match since her return in April at WrestleMania 42. Her last singles match came during the December 4, 2017, edition of Monday Night Raw, which emanated from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, where she battled Sasha Banks, aka Mercedes Mone.
Paige defeated Banks to secure her first win in more than a year. Her last win before the match was against Charlotte Flair in June 2016, following which she lost to Flair in a rematch where Flair’s Women’s title was on the line.
The match marked her in-ring return to WWE television and, notably, it was her final match on WWE TV before she suffered a career-ending neck injury during a six-woman tag team match at a WWE live event in Uniondale, New York.
As we all know, the former Divas Champion returned to the in-ring action in 2022, albeit in AEW, and now, after over two months following her return, she gears up for her singles bout against Fatal Influence’s Jacy Jayne.
