The WWE Women’s US Championship was unveiled on SmackDown

For the first time in the history of Stamford-based promotions, WWE has introduced the United States Championship for the women’s division. The new title was announced last night on SmackDown by General Manager Nick Aldis.

In a taped message during the broadcast of the 11/08 show, Aldis appeared for his teased announcement and unveiled the new mid-card title. General Manager Nick Aldis introduced the new WWE Women’s United States Championship but announced that the title would not be awarded to anyone yet.

Let us now take a look at the stars in the Women’s division who are the perfect candidates to hold the inaugural United States title and make history.

Michin

Michin made her promotional debut on October 24, 2018, and was considered one of the most talented women in the independent ranks by many. She has exceptional talents when it comes to striking and submissions.

The former NXT star regularly trains alongside Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke, bringing a wealth of experience in both Muay Thai and Taekwondo. However, she left the promotion for a while in 2021 and returned to the independent circuit.

After a brief run on the independent circuit, Yim made her return to WWE on the November 7, 2022, episode of Raw. She attacked Rhea Ripley of The Judgment Day and joined forces with The O.C. (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows).

She was then drafted to SmackDown, during the 2023 WWE Draft, Michin as well as the entire O.C. were drafted to the Blue brand. Michin possesses a highly skilled game and a mid-card title on her shoulders would give a huge boost to the former NXT star.

The Women’s United States Title would also add to her legacy and would give the former star the spotlight to shine in front of the WWE universe.

Chelsea Green

One of the prominent faces in the current WWE roster, Chelsea Green is not only known for her antics outside the ring but also for her in-ring prowess and athleticism.

Green made a surprise return in the 2023 Royal Rumble Match and hasn’t looked back since. She is regularly featured on the WWE programming and loves to get the last word during any confrontation.

Green also held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles with Sonya Deville, defeating Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez on the July 17, 2023, episode of the Red brand.

Green alongside her tag partner Piper Niven currently performs in SmackDown as she was drafted to the Blue brand during the 2024 WWE Draft. She is the perfect candidate for the inaugural US Title as her sassy persona and her in-ring prowess make her the perfect fit for the title.

Candice LeRae

Candice LeRae is one of the most deserving candidates for the inaugural Women’s US Championship as she already created history when she became the first-ever WWE Women’s Speed Champion.

Despite, LeRae’s short stature she is known for her fighting spirit and endurance in the ring. The underdog doesn’t back down from a fight and is ready to take on anybody who stands in her way.

LeRae’s tag partner Indi Hartwell was recently released from the WWE, which allowed her to try her hand at a singles career. LeRae took on former champion Bayley on last week’s episode of the Blue brand.

Candice was also involved in a segment alongside WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax and MITB winner Tiffany Stratton. The addition of the inaugural Women’s US Championship would propel her further in her singles career.

Raquel Rodriguez

Raquel Rodriguez‘s achievements in WWE are impressive, to say the least her achievements include being a three-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, a one-time NXT Women’s Champion. She is also a record-tying two-time NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, as well as the inaugural holder of the title.

After a seven-month hiatus, Rodriguez returned to the promotion at Bad Blood 2024. She aligned herself with the Judgement Day faction and attacked Rhea Ripley during her match with Liv Morgan.

Raquel is currently the enforcer of the current Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan. Her towering presence and terrifying power are enough to push opponents to their breaking points.

Raquel already has accolades on her resume and becoming the Women’s US Champion will only help her reach new heights. The Women’s US Champion would make her faction the Judgement Day invincible as the faction already holds the Women’s World Title and the World Tag Team titles.
