Fatu is a prominent figure in the world of professional wrestling

While it is rumored that WWE will introduce Jacob Fatu in the Bloodline during Backlash 2024, people are still not sure who he is and what role he has in the Bloodline family and what he can do with Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga if he joins them against the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, who recently lost his Championship against Cody Rhodes in WrestleMania 40 and his cousins. Let’s have a look on the same and understand who is Jacob Fatu?

History and Family

Jacob Fatu, born on April 18, 1992, is a prominent figure in the world of professional wrestling, especially known for his tenure in Major League Wrestling (MLW) and his current affiliation with WWE. Within MLW, he achieved significant success, holding the MLW National Openweight Championship and setting a remarkable record as the MLW World Heavyweight Champion, boasting the longest reign in the title’s history, lasting an impressive 819 days.

One of the defining aspects of Jacob Fatu’s wrestling lineage is his connection to the esteemed Anoaʻi family, renowned for its contributions to the wrestling industry.

He is the son of Sam Fatu, known in the ring as The Tonga Kid, and counts among his uncles the legendary wrestlers Rikishi and Umaga. This illustrious family heritage undoubtedly adds to Fatu’s wrestling legacy, and he continues to carry forward the tradition of excellence associated with the Anoa’i name.

Jacob Fatu’s Pro Wrestling Career

Early in his career, Jacob Fatu trained under his uncle Rikishi and had a successful debut in 2012 with his relative Black Pearl. Between 2013 and 2015, he competed in a number of independent promotions in California, frequently forming teams with other Anoa’i family members. In 2018, he travelled to Mexico to participate in The Crash, which broadened his wrestling expertise.

His career took a dramatic change when he joined the Major League Wrestling (MLW) in 2019 and teamed up with his brothers Samu and Lance Anoa’i. At the SuperFight event in February, he made his MLW debut by attacking World Heavyweight Champion Tom Lawlor alongside Josef Samael.

This incident laid the groundwork for the establishment of the evil stable Contra Unit. When Fatu defeated Lawlor at Kings of Colosseum in July 2019 to win the World Heavyweight Championship, it was clear how dominant he was in MLW.

Several well-known feuds and title fights occurred during Fatu’s time in MLW. Among them was a historic bout in which the MLW National Openweight Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship were at stake. On February 1, 2024, his uncle Rikishi announced his retirement from MLW, capping a five-year tenure with the organisation.

Fatu made his New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) debut shortly after leaving MLW at Battle in the Valley in January 2024, where he successfully teamed up with Shota Umino and Fred Rosser.

WWE Career

It is quite said in the news that Fatu had signed with WWE on April 8, 2024—as reported by a number of wrestling publications—may have been the biggest turning point in his career where he can get a chance to fight against his own cousin Roman Reigns and the Usos. He can work under the guidance of the reinforcer Solo Sikoa and can make his in ring debut in Backlash 2024.
