Randy Orton is one of the greatest professional wrestlers & a future Hall of Famer
Randy Orton is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, who has had a great run in WWE for over two decades. The Apex Predator is a 14-time World Champion, who is just two reigns less than equalling John Cena & Ric Flair for the most number of World Championship reigns in WWE.
Orton recently appeared for an interview with Cody Rhodes on the “What do you wanna talk about?” interview series, where both discussed several topics, related to his future Hall of Fame & John Cena. Here we take a look at what Orton said in the discussion.
Randy Orton’s Hall of Fame desire
During the interview, Randy Orton was asked about who would induct him into the Hall of Fame to which Orton said ‘John Cena’. Orton said that he has a few reasons selfishly and said John Cena could do justice for him.
Randy Orton said,
“Gosh, I almost even don’t want to say because I feel like he’d hear this and then feel obligated, but maybe John [Cena]. There’s a few reasons. Selfishly, because I know that he would knock it out of the f*cking park. I know John could do me better justice than just about anybody because John’s John.”
Orton also said that there are also other candidates, but Cena would be at the top of his list. However he doesn’t know how busy Cena is, and he doesn’t want to ask him about that until his time.
Orton said,
“Of course, there’s other candidates, but I feel like John would be at the top of my list, but I almost hate even saying it out loud, because I can’t imagine how busy that dude is with everything he’s got going on. You know, I have a tendency to sell myself short and I feel like, you know, maybe he would love to do it, but I don’t know that I could ask him. You know what I’m saying? And I almost don’t even want to think about it until that time comes, if it comes.”
Randy Orton on one last match with John Cena
Cody Rhodes asked Orton if he would like to work with John Cena for one more match as a part of Cena’s retirement tour. To which Orton said yes, recalling their legendary rivalry back in years. Orton wanted to give their fans the nostalgia rivalry back. However, he wanted it organically and believed that it was already in the cards.
“I would love to work with the man and have a couple TVs or more to set it up and really make something special of it. Because no matter how much we faced each other back in the day, almost to the point where people were sick of it when people look back and think about it, they’re like, ‘Oh, Orton-Cena, wow. It was this amazing rivalry.’”
“To have that callback, that nostalgia concept, and to do it for the fans who I feel like they’d appreciate it, and we go out there and have some fun and tear the place down. I would love to do that, but I guess, according to John, we’re just gonna let it, you know, if it organically happens, it’ll happen, but I think it’ll happen. I think it’s in the cards.”
Randy Orton is now all set to face Gunther at the WWE Bash in Berlin 2024 for the World Heavyweight Championship. Will Orton win the title for the 15th time? Could we able to see Cena vs Orton for the world title? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
