Shinsuke Nakamura is bringing backup against the MFTs.
Despite being absent from WWE programming, Shinsuke Nakamura appeared in a vignette last week, sending a warning to the MFTs (Talla Tonga, Tama Tonga & Haku). Nakamura stated that the King of Strong Style is back, and that this time he would not be fighting alone.
He declared that he was starting a war and would no longer be a one-man army. This tease sparked massive speculation among fans about who the mystery partner could be. In a social media exclusive posted after the August 14 edition, Nakamura delivered another promo.

In the second vignette, Nakamura congratulated the MFTs on becoming the new WWE Tag Team Champions but issued them a stern warning. The camera then teased a mystery figure standing in the silhouette behind Nakamura.
After the second vignette, a new report from PWInsider has now revealed the identity of Nakamura’s mystery tag partner. According to the report, Nakamura’s tag team partner will be former New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) star Hiromu Takahashi.
The former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion has been widely expected to sign with WWE, and the promotion is likely building up the tease for his debut.
Who is Hiromu Takahashi?
Hiromu Takahashi is a former NJPW wrestler who kicked off his pro-wrestling career in the promotion in 2010. He also performed in promotions such as Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), Ring of Honor (ROH), All Elite Wrestling (AEW), and Pro Wrestling Noah.
Takahashi has also achieved considerable success in NJPW, winning the IWGP Tag Team Championship once with Tetsuya Naito and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship five times. He has also held the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship once alongside Yota Tsuji and BUSHI.
In addition, Takahashi is a four-time Best of the Super Juniors winner, having won the tournament in 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022, and he won the 2024 World Tag League with Naito. Hirmou has also won the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship in Pro Wrestling Noah.
His last in-ring appearance came in NJPW in February 2026 at NJPW The New Beginning In Osaka, where he, alongside his Unbound tag partner Taiji Ishimori, defeated the United Empire (Francesco Akira & Jakob Austin Young).
