Crown Jewel has remained under scrutiny from the start.

The venue of the WWE Crown Jewel 2026 was already a point of discussion even before the final match lineup for the event was finalized. Initially supposed to be held at the open-air stadium located in the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), the Premium Live Event on November 7 came into doubt after the security situation escalated in Saudi Arabia.

This was made worse after news about missile and drone attacks spread, raising questions about whether the Stamford-based promotion will follow through with their plans. The new venue for the event was finally announced by Riyadh Season on October 28. It was not explained at the time, but later reports have revealed details regarding this decision.

Why did WWE Crown Jewel 2026 move to a new venue?

As reported in the Fightful Select, the move to hold Crown Jewel indoors rather than outdoors in the stadium was primarily motivated by security reasons and not ticket sales. The event will take place at ANB Arena, which is also referred to as The Venue, located in Riyadh. The advantage of the indoor venue is thought to allow better control over the security and access of the event organizers.

Reporter Dave Meltzer explained the reason for the decision; it is associated with the assumption that an indoor venue would be more secure. In particular, he pointed out that managing the entrance and access into the venue would be much easier in the case of an arena. Moreover, the report also suggests that the company would work with the smaller team for the event.

The decision was made against the background of months of uncertainty regarding the security situation in the region. Namely, there was a travel advisory issued by the US State Department for Saudi Arabia, and there were security alerts provided by the US Embassy in view of the attacks conducted by the Iranian-backed Houthi forces.

The Crown Jewel card, meanwhile, continues to feature four announced matches. Roman Reigns will face Sami Zayn for the Men’s Crown Jewel Championship, while Liv Morgan will face Chelsea Green for the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship.

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton are also set to settle their rivalry in a Last Man Standing match. In the tag team division, World Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker and Austin Theory will defend their titles against Penta and Je’Von Evans.

What are the latest reports about WWE stars and staff travelling to Riyadh?

The venue change is only one part of the wider uncertainty surrounding the early November PLE. Before the announcement, reports emerged about concerns among WWE employees and talent over travelling to Saudi Arabia amid the security situation.

Multiple rumors mentioned that several members of staff and the roster were unhappy with the company’s plans to proceed with the Riyadh event. But the limited time available before November 7 made a major change of location increasingly difficult.

TKO President Mark Shapiro reportedly addressed employees during a town hall, stressing that their safety was paramount. The smaller crew arrangement could also reflect the company’s efforts to manage the logistical and security requirements of the show.

Ariel Helwani stated that he was told the Power Slap production staff will fly into Bahrain and take a bus for five hours to Riyadh. This is the current plan unless the airport opens up further. The company is also expected to return to the United States for the following week’s Raw on November 9 in Greenville, South Carolina.

For now, the decision to move indoors appears to be a precautionary measure rather than a cancellation warning. WWE Crown Jewel remains scheduled for Riyadh, but the changing circumstances mean that the company’s travel and event arrangements will continue to attract attention.

Why was Crown Jewel 2026 moved to a new venue?

The event was moved from the outdoor Riyadh Season Stadium to the indoor ANB Arena in Riyadh because an indoor venue is considered easier to secure amid regional security concerns.

Has Crown Jewel 2026 been moved out of Saudi Arabia?

No. The event is still expected to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 7, 2026. The change concerns the venue within the city, not the host country.
