Goldberg could be making his return to WWE Crown Jewel 2024
Following his shocking return at WWE Bad Blood 2024, Goldberg is once again in the spotlight and rumors about his next appearance are swirling. During the Bad Blood event, the WWE Hall of Famer made a surprise return in an angle involving World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.
The tense segment saw GUNTHER insult Goldberg as a father, prompting the former WCW Heavyweight Champion to jump the barricade and confront “The Ring General” before WWE officials managed to separate them.
Now, new reports are offering an update on WWE’s plans for the iconic Goldberg, especially regarding his involvement at the upcoming Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer, WWE is not planning a GUNTHER vs Goldberg match for major shows like Survivor Series or WrestleMania—but that doesn’t mean Goldberg is out of the picture.
On a recent episode of the Backstage Pass Q&A podcast, insider WrestleVotes was asked whether Goldberg would interfere in GUNTHER’s match at Crown Jewel.
WrestleVotes didn’t give a definitive answer but confirmed that WWE does have plans for the Hall of Famer. “Yes, I don’t know for sure, but there are plans for Goldberg in the future, yes,” they revealed.
As of this writing, it’s still unclear when or how Goldberg will reappear on WWE television, but the groundwork for a potential return at Crown Jewel has certainly been laid.
Possible directions for Goldberg’s WWE return
While the exact plans for The Myth remain unknown, there are several potential storylines WWE could pursue with the 57-year-old legend. Despite his polarizing nature, Bill remains a massive name in the wrestling world, and WWE will likely aim to utilize him in a way that complements Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s long-term creative vision.
Goldberg vs GUNTHER
One of the most straightforward possibilities is a full-fledged feud between Bill and GUNTHER. Their confrontation at Bad Blood certainly planted the seeds for this, and it wouldn’t be surprising if WWE chose to escalate their rivalry.
At Crown Jewel, GUNTHER is all set to face Cody Rhodes in a high-profile match for the inaugural WWE Crown Jewel Championship. There’s speculation that Goldberg could interfere, costing GUNTHER the match and setting up a longer feud between the two.
However, if WWE decides to go down this route, it’s likely the match between Bill and GUNTHER wouldn’t happen right away. Damian Priest is another star who has teased himself as the next contender for GUNTHER’s World Heavyweight Championship, suggesting Goldberg’s involvement could be a slow-burn storyline.

Goldberg could potentially team up with Damian Priest
If WWE wants to protect Da Man while keeping him in a relevant storyline, another option could be to have him team up with Damian Priest. The two could face off against GUNTHER and a partner of his choosing in a tag team match.
This scenario would keep Bill from having to work a lengthy singles match while still involving him in one of WWE’s top feuds.
It’s even possible that GUNTHER could call out someone from Judgment Day during this tag-team collaboration. A Spear from the Iconic to someone like JD McDonagh would certainly get the crowd buzzing.
Reconciliation with Bret Hart
While this idea may seem far-fetched, there’s been ongoing talk about a potential reconciliation between Bill and Bret Hart.
Hart has been vocal in his resentment toward the Myth for the infamous kick that ended his career back in 1999. Despite Bill’s multiple apologies, Hart has refused to forgive him.
However, given that Hart has mended fences with other former rivals, like Shawn Michaels, there’s always a chance WWE could orchestrate a surprising reconciliation between the two Hall of Famers. Though unlikely, such a moment would undoubtedly be a huge draw for the WWE Universe.
