The 2026 edition of WWE Backlash emanated live from the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida. The show featured the aftermath of WrestleMania 42, featuring two title matches. A total of five high-stakes matches took place at the PLE.
Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker locked horns for the first time in their feud since Breakker turned on Rollins and kicked him out of the faction. On the other hand, Asuka and Iyo Sky also settled their feud inside the ring in Tampa.
Trick Williams defended the United States title in a WrestleMania 42 rematch against Sami Zayn. On the other hand, Danhausen teamed up with Minihausen to take on the team of The Miz and Kit Wilson in a tag team match.
In the main event of the show, World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns battled Jacob Fatu with the title on the line. This marked his first title defense since capturing the title against CM Punk in the main event of Night 2 of WrestleMania.
Additionally, John Cena also made his return on the show and revealed his highly awaited ‘groundbreaking’ announcement, which was “John Cena Classic.”
