AAA General Manager and WWE Hall of Famer, Rey Mysterio, recently sat down for a conversation with Ocho and Raheemovic on the Late Run. Myserio talked about Lucha Libre, the mask & Mexican culture, the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026, and Mexico’s involvement.
As the world continues to focus on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, football became a major topic of discussion during the interview. The WWE Hall of Famer, who is a massive football fan, spoke about several aspects of the sport and even drew parallels between football and professional wrestling.
Rey Mysterio has high praise for Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns
When asked about who he believes is the Ronaldo and Messi of WWE, Rey Mysterio picked Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, noting how quickly both mastered the craft and reached the pinnacle of pro-wrestling.
“I would have to say Seth Rollins, being one of them, because he’s a he’s a masterpiece at what he does. He he is the architect really. And on the other end, you know, I would probably have to give it to uh Roman Roman Reigns. He mastered this down, really fast. And again, you talk about the uh the legacy and the dynasty of where, he came from.
I was just talking about like current talent, you know, cuz we can go back and talk about The Rock and and uh people that have been before, but uh yeah, I truly believe that especially knowing that those two guys were part of a a team at one point, you know, they kind of went their separate ways, a nd now they’re both on top of the game.”
Both Roman and Seth were part of the Shield faction with Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley). After going their separate ways, both stars have held the World title multiple times, headlined WrestleMania, and have been part of multiple major storylines.
Reigns recently defeated CM Punk to become the new World Heavyweight Champion and has defended the title in a rematch against Jacob Fatu at Clash in Italy.
On the other hand, Rollins returned from injury at Elimination Chamber in February and is currently feuding with Bron Breakker and the Vision faction, a faction that he created but was kicked out of. The injury at Crown Jewel 2025 also forced Rollins to vacate the World title, which he is determined to get back.
The same title that Roman holds, reports had even hinted at another showdown between the two, but Rollins failed to win the first-round match of the 2026 King of the Ring tournament due to Bron Breakker’s Vision running interference.
