WWE Raw saw a massive slump before the historic PLE.
The May 25 edition of Monday Night Raw, which emanated from the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio. Despite it being a major show, before the Clash in Italy PLE, the show hit a major slump in viewership.
This, according to Netflix’s weekly numbers, which reveal that the Red brand’s show drew a total of 2.5 million global views, with 4.6 million global hours viewed.
The show ranked seventh globally
The viewership figure marks the lowest reported total since the January 19 episode, which drew 2.5 million views. However, it is worth noting that Netflix did not release viewership data for the January 26 edition. Meanwhile, the total hours viewed remained unchanged from the previous week.
The show ranked seventh globally, finishing just 200,000 views behind the sixth-place program, Worst Ex Ever: Season 2. Meanwhile, Season 1 of The Boroughs topped the charts for the week.
Per the Wrestling Observer, the show hit 3.3 million viewership on April 20, but has been on a downward trend ever since. Similar to how SmackDown has been struggling, the slumping viewership for Raw is a worrying trend for the promotion.
The drop in viewership, despite stars like Roman Reigns and even Brock Lesnar in the mix, likely means WWE cannot rely solely on major names to drive sustained viewership. Storylines that are engaging for fans will be beneficial for the promotion in sustained viewership, and viral moments will only work for a short period.
With SummerSlam approaching and continued PLEs in between, the viewership numbers will likely increase, especially if new feuds and storylines are introduced.
