WWE Royal Rumble 2025 Results: Jey Uso & Charlotte Flair are going to WrestleMania 41; Cody Rhodes retains & more

The kick-off to WrestleMania season is just around the corner as the Stamford-based promotion has arrived in Indianapolis for the first PLE of 2025. The Royal Rumble 2025 PLE will emanate live from the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Considered among the big five PLEs from the WWE every year, along with WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Money in the Bank. The PLE features two Royal Rumble matches in the men’s and women’s divisions.

The PLE is usually held in late January with the only exception being 2025 when the PLE will be held in early February. The Rumble match follows Battle Royal rules, where participants eliminate opponents by tossing them over the top rope. The match usually features 30 competitors, with two wrestlers starting, and new entrants joining every 90 seconds until all participants are in the ring.

Apart from the two Rumble matches, two title matches have also been set for the show in Indianapolis.

Men’s Royal Rumble Match

Following the tradition the 2025 Rumble PLE will feature a men’s Rumble match where 30 men will participate to try their luck and win the match which will grant them a title shot against the champion at WrestleMania.

Women’s Royal Rumble Match

The Women’s Rumble match was introduced first in 2018 and since then every Rumble PLE has featured two Rumble matches. Similar to the men’s match the women’s Rumble match winner also gets a title shot at WrestleMania. The participants are chasing the current Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton.

Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens – Undisputed WWE Championship (Ladder Match)

The fallout between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens is one of the most heated debates of 2024 among fans, which kicked off following the backstage attack by KO on Rhodes at Bad Blood 2024 PLE. The two stars last met in the December 14 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event where Rhodes defended the title but Owens launched an assault after the match.

The bad blood between the two former friends has been on full display ever since and no physical interaction has ended in peace. The two stars will now battle for the Undisputed as well as the Winged Eagle WWE title which was stolen by KO after SNME.

Both titles will be suspended above the ring during the match and the two stars will battle it out in the Lucas Oil Stadium.

DIY (c) vs Motor City Machine Guns – 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship

After defeating Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) in the 01/24 episode of SmackDown, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin (Motor City Machine Guns) got their rematch against Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa for the tag titles.

The clash for the WWE Tag Team titles is set for the first PLE this Saturday and will be a two out of three falls match as MCMG looks to recapture the title, while DIY wants to fend off the former champion and hold on to the titles.
