Over the years, it has taken a few eliminations for superstars to win the Royal Rumble.
WWE is set to present the first Premium Live Event of the new year, WWE Royal Rumble 2025. The 38th edition of the show will take place on Saturday, February 1st, at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana, Indianapolis. The event will feature some of the biggest names in the history of WWE, such as Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and John Cena.
Over the years, the WWE Royal Rumble matches have been the highlight of the event, and so have the winners who won the 30-person over-the-top-rope battle royal. However, there have been instances where those individuals became Rumble winners with less number of eliminations. Here is a look at those past five Rumble winners who have the least number of eliminations:
5. Alberto Del Rio (2011) – 2 eliminations
Alberto Del Rio entered the first-ever 40-man Royal Rumble match that took place in 2011. The former WWE Champion entered at No.38, which meant that the majority of the field had been eliminated before Del Rio’s arrival. Moreover, it only took two eliminations for Alberto Del Rio to win the Royal Rumble match. He first tossed out Randy Orton and then Santino Marella, who was almost close to shocking the world with his own victory in the match.

4. Edge (2010) – 2 eliminations
The WWE Universe had not seen Edge for months due to him suffering a serious torn Achilles injury. However, the Rated R superstar made his triumphant return in the 2010 Royal Rumble match at No. 29 and went straight after his former partner and then-turned rival, Chris Jericho, tossing him over the top rope. In the end, Edge threw John Cena out of the match, with his two eliminations sealing the Royal Rumble win for him that year.
3. Becky Lynch (2019) – 2 eliminations
Becky Lynch had lost in a Women’s title match to Asuka earlier in the night at the 2019 Royal Rumble event. However, The Man seized the opportunity of Lana being attacked by Nia Jax before she could enter the match.
Fit Finlay let Lynch take her place at No. 28, and she charged into the ring to earn a title opportunity at WrestleMania. Becky Lynch did just that by eliminating both Nia Jax and Charlotte Flair, scoring two eliminations en route to her victory in the Women’s Royal Rumble match.

2. Randy Orton (2017) – 1 elimination
Randy Orton played it smart during his participation in the 2017 Royal Rumble match. He entered the match at the No. 23 spot and smartly avoided the field. Moreover, this led to the match coming down to him and Roman Reigns. Orton capitalized on the situation and threw Reigns over the top rope to secure the win, with his Royal Rumble coming at the courtesy of only one elimination.
1. Vince McMahon (1999) – 1 elimination
Vince McMahon brought his heated tensions with his iconic rival, Stone Cold Steve Austin, to the 1999 Royal Rumble match. Steve Austin entered the match at the No.1 spot, while McMahon chose to start the match with him at No.2.
However, he spent most of the match avoiding the field and spending over an hour on the floor. In the end, it came down to him and Austin. McMahon used a distraction from The Rock to toss the Texas Rattlesnake out of the ring and win the Royal Rumble match, scoring only a sole elimination.
