Let’s discuss the latest rumors making the rounds among fans on social media!
Speculations and rumors are among some of the favorite pastimes for WWE fans worldwide. Fans from all over the world enjoy discussing and debating various aspects of the world of pro wrestling. In the aftermath of WrestleMania 41, the rumor mill continues to run in full force.
In today’s edition of the rumor roundup, we cover the latest rumors and news circulating among fans on social media, including a scrapped match between Iyo Sky and Liv Morgan, Chad Gable’s injury, Drew McIntyre’s return, and the length of the July 4 episode of SmackDown.
Iyo Sky vs Liv Morgan
BodySlam.net has reported that Liv Morgan was originally going to challenge Iyo Sky for the Women’s World Championship at the upcoming Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, before she was injured.
One-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Liv Morgan, suffered a horrific injury on the June 16th edition of Monday Night Raw. During her match with Kairi Sane, Morgan dislocated her shoulder. Following the injury, reports suggested that Liv will be out of action for around twelve weeks, or three months.
July 4 SmackDown’s length
The duration of WWE SmackDown episodes in July is still unclear, and a new report suggests that even WWE might not have finalized its plans yet.
On the recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the uncertainty around the show’s format, especially for the July 4th episode, which is set to be taped next Monday after Raw.
Alvarez mentioned that it’s reportedly scheduled to run for three hours, though this conflicts with other recent reports. Meltzer said he’s heard the same but hasn’t been able to confirm it with his sources, indicating that WWE may not have settled on a final plan yet.
Although SmackDown is set to permanently adopt a three-hour format beginning August 15, the programming schedule for the weeks prior is still uncertain.
Drew McIntyre’s return
‘The Scottish Psychopath’ Drew McIntyre has been absent from WWE programming since the gruesome steel cage match against Damian Priest at the May edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. According to WrestleVotes, McIntyre may be off WWE programming for a while.
Speaking on Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, WrestleVotes noted that there are currently no creative plans in place for the Scottish Psychopath. However, they highlighted that his absence is noticeable throughout the product and suggested that, upon his return, he should be immediately reinserted into the main event picture.
Chad Gable & Otis’ injury
According to Bodyslam.Net, Chad Gable is currently dealing with an undisclosed injury, and the backstage segment with Penta on this week’s WWE Raw was reportedly done to write him off TV for the foreseeable future.
Additionally, WrestlVotes reported that Otis is currently out of action and reportedly not listed on WWE’s internal roster. The Alpha Academy star has been absent from WWE programming for a few weeks.
Iran-Israel conflict
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, no one was allowed to mention anything regarding the Iran-Israel conflict in the Middle East on this week’s Monday Night Raw, which is why it wasn’t brought up at all during the show.
“They weren’t allowed [to reference the Iran-Israel crisis]. They just were not allowed to mention anything…That’s probably one of the reasons why they weren’t allowed to address it because I don’t think they wanted those questions being asked as far as everything. It’s potentially dangerous.
Some people say, ‘Well it’s not really that dangerous in Saudi Arabia.’ The flying was dangerous today, there’s a ceasefire but that came later in the day.”
Fans are concerned with WWE travelling to Saudi Arabia to deliver Night of Champions this Saturday amid the tensions between Iran and Israel, two countries that are in close proximity to Saudi Arabia and have active U.S airbases.
