In today’s edition of the rumor roundup, we cover the latest rumors and news circulating among fans on social media, including the tensions between Triple H and The Rock, WrestleMania 42 announcement, layoffs aftermath and more.
Tensions between Triple H & The Rock
During an interview on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling, Jonathan Coachman revealed that he knows “for a fact” that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson doesn’t get along with Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, and they are “always butting heads.”
He also revealed that he has “really good intel” close to the situation that indicates there is a “big power struggle” going on behind the scenes in the Stamford-based promotion. He also predicted that Triple H would “not be running WWE anymore” within 18 months.
Fallout during WrestleMania 40
Former NXT star Wolfgang told Cultaholic that The Rock and WWE had “a bit of a falling out” last year during preparations for WrestleMania 40.
“There’s a whole backstory that we arrived on Monday night. Tuesday was supposed to be day one and then Wednesday was day two and Thursday if we needed it. We got there on the Monday, on the Tuesday I don’t know what happened and I don’t want to start any rumours here, but there was a bit of a falling out about, ‘You come pick me up in your private plane.“
According to Wolfgang, The Rock believed WWE would provide a private jet to fly him to Los Angeles for training with Gallus, while WWE assumed he’d handle his own travel. Wolfgang suggested it was likely a case of “someone big leaguing the other one.”
No, no no, you come pick me up. I’ll be here, you come get me.’ So Tuesday was scrapped. They just couldn’t get off the runway, they said there was a problem with the plane. And then myself, Mark and Joe just got a free day in Los Angeles where we just got to go be tourists. Hit the gym, went down the pier. It was a fantastic day,
To be honest, I think it was just someone big leaguing the other one. I think it was a case of, ‘No, I don’t drive to you. You collect me.’ That’s the way I like to think it was. But regardless, the boys and I got a free day in LA.” Wolfgang said.
WrestleMania 42 announcement
According to WrestleVotes, WWE is currently deciding on how to make the WrestleMania 41 announcement, as they are aware of the fan backlash around the PLE’s return to Las Vegas.
“We are told the official announcement is on the verge, with WWE deciding on how they complete the rollout, especially within the social media space as they are aware of the backlash incoming,”
A source close to TKO revealed that they are hopeful that they will be able to replicate the entire weekend, including the same venues as WrestleMania 41.
“WWE is aware of the backlash that has already surfaced on social media so they are taking that into account when they make the official announcement.
With all that said, according to a source, TKO is hopeful they’ll be able to replicate the entire weekend, which includes having the exact same venues locked down, which in part is causing the hold-up in making the announcement.
WWE is hoping to host its events outside of WrestleMania at Allegiant Stadium within the Las Vegas Convention Center once again, Fontainebleau hotel, and T-Mobile Arena.”
Layoffs aftermath
When asked if R-Truth’s departure had affected morale in WWE, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp responded, revealing that talents are exploring other opportunities before making a commitment to an early deal.
“Yes, I’ve heard of individuals who are now considering exploring other opportunities before committing to a new deal early. That’s about as much as I can say on the matter.”
