In today’s edition of the rumor roundup, we cover the latest rumors and news circulating among fans on social media, including an update on Drew McIntyre after Damian Priest’s attack, 2025 HOF plans, Rusev’s return, and more.
Update on Drew McIntyre after Damian Priest’s attack
On the 03/28 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Damian Priest retaliated for the previous attack and ambushed Drew McIntyre as he was leaving the arena in a good mood after pinning Randy Orton. While McIntyre tried to fight back, Priest retaliated and landed a South of Heaven directly on the card windshield, shattering it in the process.
McIntyre was seen struggling and yelling that pieces of glass had gotten into his eyes as security and officials rushed in to separate the two and provide Drew with medical attention.
PWInsider now reports that Drew McIntyre did, in fact, get glass in his eye from Priest’s chokeslam onto the windshield during the 03/28 Friday Night SmackDown.
Hall of Fame 2025 plans & Mark Nash debut
On the 03/28 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, the promotion also announced that matches are now going to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. WWE announced that the iconic clash between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bret Hart from WrestleMania 13 would be inducted into the WWE HOF under a new category called “Immortal Moment”.
According to sources speaking to WrestleVotes, WWE’s decision to induct the Bret Hart vs Steve Austin match from WrestleMania 13 into the 2025 Hall of Fame was made long before the event’s disappointing ticket sales. It was always part of the original 2025 Hall of Fame plan.
ESPN boxing ring announcer Mark Shunock made his WWE debut, replacing Lillian Garcia as the new voice of SmackDown. He debuted as Mark Nash and took over ring-announcing duties starting from the 03/28 episode of SmackDown in London.
According to F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer, it was likely Nick Khan’s decision to hire Mark “Nash” Shunock as the new ring announcer for SmackDown.
Rusev’s return
Miro better known by Rusev among WWE fans was released by AEW (All Elite Wrestling) recently. Since his release, there has been a lot of speculation of him joining the Stamford-based promotion given his past with the company.
According to an earlier report from WrestleVotes, the promotion has had internal discussions about his potential return, but nothing is currently in motion.
WrestleVotes Radio now reports that while WWE is interested in bringing Rusev back, a deal isn’t close to being finalized and could take until the end of the year to materialize.
Update on Giulia
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE has denied claims that NXT star Giulia “was banged up and would be taking time off and that’s why Stephanie Vaquer won both titles.”
This comes after multiple reports suggested that Giulia was dealing with an injury which is why the promotion decided for Vaquer to win both the titles at the NXT Roadblock 2025 event. Vaquer defeated Giulia to become the NXT Women’s Champion and retained the NXT Women’s North American title.
