Seth Rollins has a history of knee injuries.

Seth “Freakin” Rollins can easily be called one of WWE’s biggest draws in the modern era. From being the Architect of the Shield to becoming WWE’s Visionary, Rollins had a remarkable in-ring career for more than two decades. However, one particular injury plagued his wrestling career in the long term.

After breaking up The Shield in 2014, Seth Rollins became the golden goose of Triple H’s Authority. He climbed the ladder of success as a singles star and became a World Champion in 2015. That marked one of his best years in the company; however, it lasted only for seven months when tragedy struck.

Seth Rollins has faced numerous setbacks throughout his career due to injuries

At a live event in Dublin, Ireland, that year, Rollins wrestled Kane in a singles match. Towards the end, he attempted a sunset flip from the top rope. However, the former WWE Champion landed awkwardly and injured his ACL, MCL and meniscus. This injury would affect Rollins for years to come.

He underwent rehabilitation for months and returned in mid-2016. After regaining momentum for an entire year, Rollins again injured his knee during the road to WrestleMania 33 buildup against Triple H. Although it was a minor injury this time, it almost led to him missing Mania for the second year in a row.

A similar situation took place at the start of 2024. Seth Rollins was the World Heavyweight Champion and competed in a singles match against Jinder Mahal. Once again, while doing a move, Rollins injured his knee and narrowly avoided missing WrestleMania 40. However, his grit and determination did not lead him to miss a highly important WrestleMania of his career.

The latest setback

Fast-forward a year, and Seth Rollins was in the best run of his career. He won the main event of WrestleMania 41 and found a strong ally in Paul Heyman. Together, they recruited Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed to their ranks, and Rollins claimed the Money in the Bank contract.

Just when he was close to unleashing his vision on the landscape, Rollins injured his knee in a match against LA Knight on the July edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. In a recent update given by Rollins on The Rich Eisen Show, he provided an update on his condition.

He said, “There was some imaging; it was a little too swollen, so we’re going to take another look, hopefully in a week or two here in LA. Try to get some sort of firm diagnosis and we can go from there. I am not a doctor, I only know my body and what I feel. What I feel is that this is going to be me out for an extended period of time.”

With The Visionary out of action for an extended tenure, it remains to be seen when he will be medically cleared to return. But one thing is for sure: the knee issues have been a major setback to Seth Rollins’ career over the years.

What is Seth Rollins’ injury history?

Seth Rollins has faced several significant injuries throughout his career. He is currently out of action due to a knee injury he suffered during his match against LA Knight at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

When will Seth Rollins return to WWE?

There is no official timeline yet, but Rollins has suggested he may be out for an “extended period.”

How many times has Seth Rollins won the Money in the Bank briefcase?
