Hello everyone and welcome to Khel Now’s LIVE COVERAGE and RESULTS of the WWE Friday Night SmackDown (May 17, 2024). The start is just a few hours away! I’m your host Akash, and I’ll be keeping you company through what promises a fascinating evening of WWE. Please wait for 30 Seconds for the Live blog to load.
This week’s WWE SmackDown brings the WWE Universe closer to the company’s next major premium live event, King & Queen of the Ring. As the name implies, the King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring tournament finals will take place on this night, crowning new wrestling royalty in both divisions.
But first, the dust must settle to determine which of the top two contestants in each event will face off in the finals. Fortunately, the most recent edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown will include a pair of interesting quarterfinals matches and much more.
WWE Smackdown (May 17, 2024): Match Card
- Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul’s “King and Queen of the Ring” Contract Signing
- King of the Ring – LA Knight vs Tama Tonga (Quarterfinals)
- King of the Ring – Randy Orton vs Carmelo Hayes (Quarterfinals)
- Queen of the Ring – Jade Cargill vs Nia Jax (Quarterfinals)
- Queen of the Ring – Bianca Belair vs Tiffany Stratton (Quarterfinals)
Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul’s “King and Queen of the Ring” Contract Signing
As previously stated on the May 10 SmackDown episode, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul will sign a contract for their championship fight at WWE King and Queen of the Ring. Paul was announced as Rhodes’ next opponent last week on Friday.
King of the Ring – LA Knight vs Tama Tonga (Quarterfinals)
On May 11, LA Knight beat Santos Escobar in the first round of the King of the Ring competition during a WWE live event. Knight will face Tama Tonga in the quarterfinals on the May 17th episode of WWE SmackDown Live. This will be a fascinating match-up because LA Knight is at the height of his career, but with The Bloodline involved, will he be able to endure the wave?
King of the Ring – Randy Orton vs Carmelo Hayes (Quarterfinals)
Randy Orton fought against AJ Styles in an exciting main event. Orton slammed Styles on the broadcast table. Back in the ring, Styles went after Orton’s leg. The two veterans kept fighting. Orton countered a Phenomenal Forearm attempt and responded with a barrage of strikes.
Styles fired up and landed a Phenomenal Forearm for a two-count. Finally, Orton used the RKO to win. Now Orton will face Carmelo Hayes, who defeated Baron Corbin to advance in the tournament.
Queen of the Ring – Jade Cargill vs Nia Jax & Bianca Belair vs Tiffany Stratton (Quarterfinals)
Jade Cargill takes on Nia Jax, while Bianca Belair faces Tiffany Stratton. These two matchups had one thing in common: veteran vs up-and-comer. It will be a conflict of generations, both present and future, giving professional wrestling fans a peek of what’s to come while also paying honor to the competitors who have placed the organization on their backs to get it to where it is now.
