While many sports and entertainment industries have an off-season, WWE does not, this is the case right now as following WrestleMania 41, the promotion has kicked off preparation for the next PLE, which is Backlash 2025.
The Stamford-based promotion has also announced multiple matches for the show, which is set for May 10, and will continue the build towards the PLE this week on Friday Night SmackDown, likely announcing more matches for the show.
As of the Blue Brand, Aleister Black’s first match after his return to the company is scheduled for the show. While ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton is also scheduled to appear on the show ahead of the ‘One Last Time’ match against Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena at Backlash.
Matches & segments confirmed for 05/02 WWE SmackDown
- Aleister Black vs The Miz
- Randy Orton will be live on SmackDown en route to WWE Backlash
Aleister Black vs The Miz
After weeks of teasing his return, Aleister Black made his return on last week’s show, this was his first appearance since 2021. Black interrupted The Miz‘s segment, which irked him as he tried to confront Aleister, who took out the Miz with a vicious black mass. The two stars are now set to battle in a singles match.
Randy Orton will be live on SmackDown en route to WWE Backlash
‘The Viper’ Randy Orton will be live on this week’s show ahead of the Backlash PLE, where he is set to battle the Champion, John Cena, for the Undisputed title. Last week’s showdown between the two ended in Orton flatlining Cena with an RKO as the challenger retaliated to a cheap shot during their segment.
