SummerSlam fallout show of SmackDown featured a major debut.
Addressing the fallout from SummerSlam, WWE delivered the August 7 edition of WWE SmackDown from Philadelphia. CM Punk and Kevin Owens engaged in a fiery promo battle that turned into a shoving contest, while Cody Rhodes tried to get his hands on Randy Orton, who managed to escape.
On the other hand, Baron Corbin retained the United States Championship against Trick Williams once again after striking him with the title, while Nia Jax and Lash Legend attacked Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton, with Nia signalling that she has her sights set on Green’s Interim title.
The main event of the fallout show saw Alexa Bliss return with a debuting Tatum Paxley to even the odds for Charlotte Flair against Jade Cargill, B-Fab and Michin.
Three title matches have been confirmed for next week in Boston
Chelsea Green’s title celebration this week was interrupted by Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid), with Jayne vowing to take the Women’s United States title from Tiffany, who in return offered a title match next week in return for a Tag Team match against her and Chelsea in Philly.
Henley and Reid managed to retain the titles, defeating the duo of Green and Tiffany, and now Stratton is set to defend the Women’s United States title in Boston against Jacy Jayne.
On the other hand, after his successful title defense, United States Champion Baron Corbin was ambushed by Carmelo Hayes backstage. Hayes then informed Corbin that he had met with Nick Aldis and he’s got the US title match for his hometown next week.
Another title match announced for next week will see WWE Tag Team Champions Wepa Up (R-Truth & Damian Priest) defend the titles in a triple threat match against the War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) and The Tongans (Talla & Tama Tonga).
The August 14 edition of Friday Night SmackDown is set to air live from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton, Trick Williams, and Gunther are listed as featured superstars for the show.
