SmackDown has returned to the two-hour format.
The July 3 edition of Friday Night SmackDown addressed the fallout from Night of Champions that concluded last weekend in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The July 3 edition also marked Blue brand’s return to the two-hour format.
The newly crowned Undisputed Champion Sami Zayn celebrated his win to kick off the show, while Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso battled in a number one contenders match with Cody picking up the win to set up the title rematch for next week’s Raw.
The promotion also announced two matches for the July 18 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, which will emanate from Madison Square Garden in New York.
Two former allies meet in a non-title match

During this week’s show, Carmelo Hayes interrupted Trick Williams and Lil Yachty. He called for a title match between the two, noting how the United States Championship has been a workhorse title for those who are hungry.
Lil Yachty asked the crowd whether Hayes deserved another title opportunity and eventually agreed to give Hayes a match the next week, but noted that it would be a non-title bout since Hayes had already used up his previous championship chance.
The segment ended with Williams dropping Hayes with a backhanded slap, while Hayes responded with a dive from the ropes to take down Williams as he was leaving.
Apart from the non-title match, the show is expected to build towards the upcoming SNME on July 18 as well as for SummerSlam. The July 10 edition of WWE SmackDown will emanate live from the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Cody Rhodes, Rhea Ripley, Drew McIntyre, Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton, and Randy Orton are listed as featured superstars for the July 10 show.
