AJ Lee made her much-awaited return in Chicago!

The September 5 Clash in Paris fallout episode of SmackDown aired from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Multiple big names, including John Cena, CM Punk, Tiffany Stratton, and Randy Orton, were advertised for the show.

This was the final SmackDown appearance for John Cena as there are only seven dates left on hi farewell tour with all of them being on PLEs, Raw, and SNME. Cena kicked off the show and was confronted by US Champion Sami Zayn, who then challenged Cena, putting his US title on the line.

The match ended in DQ as Brock Lesnar made his return, attacking the two and taking down Cena with two back-to-back F5. They will now settle the score at the upcoming Wrestlepalooza PLE.

Furthermore, Aleister Black pinned Damian Priest, while Giulia defeated Michin with a little distraction from Kiana James to retain the Women’s United States title. In the final moments of the show, Becky Lynch continued to berate and slap CM Punk, but this time he had some backup.

AJ Lee made her much-awaited return after ten years and took down Lynch, exacting revenge on behalf of her husband. Lee and Punk celebrate the return with the Chicago crowd after the show.

During the fallout show, WWE announced multiple matches and segments for next week’s show in the build towards Wrestlepalooza.

Following their backstage interaction, WWE announced a title rematch where WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton will defend the crown against Jade Cargill. This will be their first meeting since SummerSlam, where Tiffany retained.

Furthermore, Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre are set to settle the score inside the squared circle next week as they go head-to-head. This match announcement has also sparked speculation of the return of Cody Rhodes.

Additionally, after his return this week, ‘The Beast’ Brock Lesnar is set to appear live next week. He will likely cut a promo hyping up his match with Cena.

The September 12 episode of Friday Night SmackDown is set to air live from the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.
