WWE SmackDown (September 18, 2026) - Cody Rhodes returns; MITB qualifying matches & more set for next week

The September 11 edition of Friday Night SmackDown concluded at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico. The first WWE show in Mexico in 15 years featured a packed lineup with multiple title matches, major storyline developments, and the fallout from Sunday Night’s Main Event.
Chelsea Green defeated Nia Jax to retain the interim WWE Women’s title, while AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix and AAA World Tag Team Champions War Raiders retained their titles against Ricky Saints and Wepa Up (R-Truth & Damian Priest), respectively.
Following the loss, Damian Priest turned on R-Truth, launching a vicious assault on his tag partner after the match. Meanwhile, in a chaotic main event that saw interferences from Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, and Kevin Owens. In the end, Sami Zayn pinned CM Punk to capture the Undisputed title once again.
Cody Rhodes’ sit-down interview is announced for next week

After the loss against Randy Orton at SNME in his hometown of Atlanta on Sunday, Cody Rhodes was absent from SmackDown in Mexico City. Rhodes is now confirmed to return next week, with Michael Cole scheduled to conduct a sit-down interview with him on the September 18 episode.
On the other hand, the qualifying matches for the men’s and women’s Money in the Bank, which kicked off on this past Monday’s Raw, will continue on next week’s SmackDown. WWE has not yet announced the participants for the qualifying matches.
