WWE could find suitable replacement for Sheamus in The Last Time is Now tournament.

The Last Time is Now tournament, which will determine John Cena’s final WWE opponent for his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, took an unfortunate turn this week.

Sheamus, who won his first round match against Shinsuke Nakamura on Monday Night Raw a few weeks ago, was announced to be dealing with a shoulder injury.

As a result, The Celtic Warrior is no longer medically cleared and will be replaced in the tournament. His injury has created a huge opening for every superstar on the roster. Here are the top four names who could replace Sheamus in the quarterfinal match against LA Knight in the tournament:

4. R-Truth

R-Truth is known for his hilarious antics regarding John Cena, calling him his childhood hero and big brother in storyline. He was embroiled in a feud with Cena during his farewell tour, but made up with him upon the latter’s face turn.

Moreover, Truth has been vying for a spot in The Last Time is Now tournament, and Sheamus’ injury might be a silver lining for him to enter the competition to have one last match against The Never Seen 17.

3. Oba Femi

Oba Femi returned to NXT television this week to rekindle his feud with Ricky Starks over the NXT championship. His return could be a sign of big things planned for the dominant star, including being the second NXT name after Je’Von Evans to compete in The Last Time is Now tournament by replacing Sheamus.

2. Rey Mysterio

The legendary masked luchador, Rey Mysterio, made his return earlier this month and this week competed alongside John Cena and Sheamus in a six-man tag team match on Cena’s final RAW.

Moreover, the duo has shared the ring in the past, including a bout for the WWE Championship in 2011. The Master of the 619 could be an ideal replacement for Sheamus in The Last Time is Now tournament and compete to earn one more shot at The Cenation Leader.

1. Roman Reigns

One of the top names that did not compete against John Cena in his farewell tour is the man who succeeded him as the face of the company, Roman Reigns.

The OTC recently made his return to television for the road to Survivor Series: WarGames. Following that, he could be revealed as the replacement for Sheamus to battle LA Knight and pose a serious threat to everyone’s chances in the The Last Time is Now tournament.

How will John Cena’s final opponent be decided?

His opponent will be chosen through a 16-man tournament involving stars from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and outside promotions.

When did the ‘Last Time Is Now Tournament’ begin?

The tournament began on Monday Night Raw, November 10, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts.
