The 39th edition of SummerSlam kicked off on Saturday, August 1 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The night featured two World title showdowns pitting reigning Champions against number one contenders.
On the other hand, Nick Aldis also made his WWE in-ring debut, while two tag team matches saw non-stop action and a major heel turn. Randy Orton’s long-awaited return also transpired during the co-main event.

Liv Morgan vs Iyo Sky – Women’s World title match
The opening match of Night 1 saw Liv Morgan defend the Women’s World title against the winner of the 2026 Queen of the Ring, Iyo Sky, who secured the match after defeating Morgan in the finals.
However, this time around, Morgan, with a little help from her Judgment Day stablemates, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, defeated Sky to retain the title in her first defense.

LA Knight, Royce Keys & Solo Sikoa vs The Usos (Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso) & Jacob Fatu – Six-man tag team match
The second match saw the team of LA Knight, Royce Keys and Solo Sikoa take on Roman Reigns’ Bloodline. The Usos (Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso) and Jacob Fatu failed to secure the win as Keys took out Fatu, while Solo and Knight worked together to take out the Usos, with Knight getting the pin on Jey.
Solo’s babyface antics stole the spotlight during the match, and he even embraced Knight after a monumental win against the Bloodline, cementing his refusal to rejoin the faction.

Nick Aldis vs Gunther
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis returned to action after three years and for the first time in a WWE ring. Aldis showcased that he still has not lost a single step, countering Gunther’s move and delivering high-flying action.
However, Gunther managed to lock in the devastating sleeper hold, forcing the SmackDown GM to tap out and suffer defeat in his WWE in-ring debut.

Fatal Influence vs Paige & The Bella Twins – Six-Woman Tag Team match
Nikki Bella returned to join forces with Brie Bella and Paige against Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne & Lainey Reid) in a six-woman tag team match. The rising stars once again defeated the veterans to secure another major win, this time at a major stage.
Post-match, Nikkie and Brie Bella turned to Paige, beating down the former Divas Champion, to signal another heel turn for the iconic duo.
Winner: Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne & Lainey Reid)

CM Punk (c) vs Cody Rhodes – Undisputed WWE title match
CM Punk defended the Undisputed title for the first time in the co-main event against the number one contender Cody Rhodes. In a hard-hitting battle, Punk managed to pin Rhodes to retain the title and stay on top of the SmackDown roster.
The win came courtesy of Randy Orton, who returned for the first time since losing the title match to Rhodes at WrestleMania 42. Orton took down Rhodes with an RKO as Punk followed up with a GTS to secure the win.

Brock Lesnar vs Oba Femi – Hell in a Cell match
In the main event, Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi collided in a rubber match, looking to break the tie. The heavyweight showdown saw both men destroy the ring, with Lesnar even ripping apart the ring mat and padding.
Despite multiple F5s, German Suplexes, and a Tombstone Piledriver on the exposed ring board, Lesnar was unable to secure the win as Femi retaliated with a brutal Fall from Grace to secure the win and hand Lesnar his first loss inside Hell in a Cell.
