Royal Rumble is one of the most unique matches in the WWE

There are a total of five biggest events produced by the Stamford-based promotion one of them is the Royal Rumble PLE which is usually held in late January and is the first PLE of the year from the WWE. However, the 2025 edition is set for early February, the event will return to its familiar January slot next year.

Introduced in 1988 the Royal Rumble PLE has created some of the most memorable moments. While initially the PLE only featured the men’s Rumble match in 2018 the same match was introduced for the women’s division.

Royal Rumble is a professional wrestling match featuring Battle Royal rules, where competitors eliminate others by throwing them over the top rope. Typically, 30 participants take part, with two starting the match and new wrestlers entering every 90 seconds until all 30 are in the ring.

Since its inception there have been multiple big names that have won the Rumble match, among these winners there are a handful of stars that have created unique records during their appearance in the match. Some of the stars hold multiple wins, while others hold back-to-back wins.

Today, we’ll take a look at one such unique record: WWE Superstars with the most eliminations in a single men’s Royal Rumble match.

5. Stone Cold Steve Austin – 10 (1997)

Bagging the fifth spot is the uber-popular WWE legend ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ Stone Cold Steve Austin. Stone Cold eliminated a total of ten opponents in the 1997 Rumble match. He is in the top five list when it comes to total eliminations in Rumble matches at 36 Eliminations.

4. Kane – 11 (2011)

‘The Big Red Machine’ Kane not only has the most number of eliminations of all time in the Royal Rumble matches at 46 but he also sits at the fourth spot when it comes to the list of most eliminations in a single Rumble match.

During the 2011 Royal Rumble PLE, Kane eliminated a total of eleven competitors. However, despite this impressive feat, the Big Red Machine has been unable to secure victory in all his record 18th Rumble appearances.

3. Roman Reigns – 12 (2014)

‘The OTC’ Roman Reigns has participated in a total of six Royal Rumble matches, his first Rumble appearance was in 2014 which was held at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

However, one of the best Rumbles of Reigns’ career is without a doubt 2015 where he entered at the number 19 spot and scored a total of 12 eliminations. Reigns ultimately won the match which was held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

2. Braun Strowman – 13 (Greatest Royal Rumble) (tied)

While Braun Strowman has not been very active in recent times, ‘The Monster Among Men’ still carries a presence that sends shivers to his opponent’s spines. This has been very evident in the seven Rumble matches he has taken part in.

Strowman has eliminated a total of 13 competitors during the Greatest Royal Rumble PLE which took place in April 2018. The Monster among Men also has one of the highest total numbers of eliminations at 34.

1. Brock Lesnar – 13 (2020) (tied)

‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar is tied with Braun Strowman at the top spot with a total number of 13 eliminations in the 2020 Rumble match.

Lesnar has been absent from WWE programming since August 2023 was scheduled to make his return at the 2024 Royal Rumble PLE as a participant in the men’s Royal Rumble match. However, he was removed from the event due to an ongoing lawsuit which mentions him.
