Royal Rumble match is a pro-wrestling match with Battle Royal rules, where wrestlers eliminate their opponents by tossing them through the top rope. It is traditionally held with 30 wrestlers, with two of them beginning and wrestlers entering the ring every 90 seconds until 30 entries are done. As per the match format, the one who enters the match late have a high chance of surviving until the last as five of them had won the match entering at #30.
However, four wrestlers had broke the myth by winning the Rumble match entering at #1, making it the second favorite spot to win the Rumble match. Entering at #1 and winning not only makes you the Rumble match winner but also the iron survivor of the match. Here we take a look at the WWE Superstars who won the Royal Rumble match entering first.
Royal Rumble Iron Survivors
Shawn Michaels (1995)
Shawn Michaels entered the 1995 Royal Rumble at #1 and lasted a total of 38 minutes 41 seconds by eliminating eight wrestlers to win the rumble match. Michaels became the first men to win the Rumble match entering first. Michaels became the iron survivor with The British Bulldog and had the most eliminations in that year’s Rumble match.

Chris Benoit (2004)
In 2004, Chris Benoit entered the Royal Rumble match at #1 and lasted a total of 1 hour 1 minute and 35 seconds and eliminated six wrestlers to win the Rumble match. Benoit broke the 21-year record of Bob Bucklund for the longest time inside the ring.
Edge (2021)
Edge entered the 2021 Royal Rumble match at #1 and stood a total of 58 minutes and 30 seconds inside the ring and eliminated three to win the match. Edge became the iron survivor of the match with Randy Orton, who entered a #2 and got eliminated last.
Rhea Ripley (2023)
Rhea Ripley entered the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble match at #1 and lasted a total of 1 hour 1 minute 8 seconds and eliminated seven to win the Royal Rumble match. Rhea Ripley became the Iron Survivor of the match and became the first woman to win the Rumble match entering first.
