The majority of these WWE stars have been out of action due to injury
WWE’s roster is filled with talented and experienced wrestlers, reinforcing its position as a leader in the professional wrestling industry. However, many performers have been absent from television for extended periods due to various reasons, with injuries being the most common.
The Stamford-based promotion is gearing up for the final PLE of the year which is the Survivor Series. The Survivor Series PLE will be held at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada on November 30.
The PLE will be followed by a special Saturday Night’s Main Event in Madison Square Garden on December 14. The promotion will kick off 2025 with the debut of Monday Night Raw on the streaming giant Netflix.
Most of these stars are expected to be available for the grand spectacle on January 6, but a few will return later. Here, we highlight eight stars who might make their comeback in 2025, including during the Raw debut.
8. Karl Anderson
Karl Anderson has been out of action from the squared ring since September. Doctors determined that Anderson had a torn rotator cuff, specifically a torn supraspinatus tendon, he also had a partially torn labrum.
Karl’s injuries were severe enough that WWE doctors sent him to Birmingham for immediate surgery. He underwent the required surgery earlier this month. Anderson will likely be out for six to nine more months which means he will likely miss WrestleMania 41.
7. Tyler Bate
NXT star Tyler Bate has been out of action since his last appearance on NXT in July. Following a medical examination, Bate took to his Instagram account to reveal that he had suffered a torn left pectoral major and tendon.
The NXT star is expected to make his return back to the squared ring at some point in 2025 if his recovery goes smoothly without any hiccups.
6. Shotzi
Shotzi suffered a severe ACL injury during NXT taping on February 13, 2024, while performing her signature apron DDT move against Lyra Valkyria.
Shotzi’s injury led to a change in plans, as she was removed from an Elimination Chamber qualifying match and Alba Fyre took her place.
The NXT star has been sharing updates on her recovery journey via her social media handles. She is recovering well from the injury and should make her comeback around January.
5. Ilja Dragunov
Former NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov suffered a significant injury during a match against the current World Heavyweight Champion Gunther on September 28, 2024. The injury he suffered at the WWE Live Event led to a torn ACL.
The injury will potentially keep him out of action for six to nine months which means he will be back in action around the WrestleMania PLE.
4. Jade Cargill
Jade Cargill, one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship duo was attacked recently. She was left bloodied and unconscious on the hood of the car with a broken windshield on the 11/22 episode of WWE SmackDown.
However, as per recent reports, she was written off the upcoming WarGames clash at the final PLE because she was suffering from a legitimate injury.
The reports also suggest that Cargill will be out of action for at least three months which means she will be back in action before the WrestleMania 41 PLE. The promotion will now have to either strip Belair of the title or replace Cargill with someone else.
3. Becky Lynch
‘The Man’ Becky Lynch left the Stamford-based promotion on June 01 when her contract expired. She is currently not signed with any other promotion and is a free agent.
As per the recent report, Lynch who is one of the biggest stars in the Women’s division is in talks with the WWE and the two parties are reportedly aiming for the Raw debut on Netflix in January as her return date.
There is no update on her contract situation or her return date as of now but if she makes her return in January it will be after seven months of absence.
2. The Rock
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made his electrifying return after the clash between Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu and Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes at Bad Blood 2024 PLE.
The Final Boss, however, didn’t utter a word; he only stared down Rhodes and Reigns, made a cut-throat sign, and then left the arena.
It is still unclear when The Rock will make his WWE return but as per the rumors he might be making an appearance at the Raw debut on Netflix.
1. John Cena
‘The G.O.A.T’ of pro wrestling John Cena announced his in-ring retirement in 2025 earlier this year during the 2024 Money in the Bank PLE. The WrestleMania 41 will be the last one for the greatest of all time.
Cena is scheduled to kick off his retirement tour on the Raw premiere on Netflix which is scheduled for January 06 at the Inuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
The 16-time champion is set to make multiple appearances throughout the year, including several Premium Live Events (PLEs). However, it remains uncertain whether he’ll surpass Ric Flair’s record and capture his 17th world title in the WWE.
