The masked man first appeared during the Men’s WarGames match.

The mystery surrounding the masked man assisting The Vision grew even deeper after this week’s episode of WWE Raw.

The enigmatic figure appeared twice on the December 8 show, attacking Rey Mysterio earlier in the night before costing LA Knight his main event clash against United States Champion Logan Paul. According to new backstage reports, WWE is intentionally clouding the truth.

Bryan Alvarez reported on X that the company may be swapping performers under the mask to mislead fans attempting to identify the character.

“In an effort to throw fans off, it appears at least two different people have been under the mystery man mask,” Alvarez wrote.

This approach is reportedly designed to prevent viewers from deciphering the wrestler’s identity through body language, size, or in-ring movement.

Who was under the mask at WWE Survivor Series?

The masked man’s first major appearance occurred at Survivor Series: WarGames, where he helped Bron Breakker secure victory for Paul Heyman’s team.

The attacker delivered a curb stomp to CM Punk, intentionally mirroring Seth Rollins’ signature move and fueling fan speculation.

Dave Meltzer addressed the situation in the December 8 Wrestling Observer Newsletter, confirming that Austin Theory portrayed the masked man during Survivor Series. Meltzer also revealed that Theory was originally planned to wrestle in the match.

“Austin Theory was the guy under the mask. Paul Heyman had wanted to bring Theory into the Vision, largely to make him a star and to protect Breakker and Reed from having to take pins,” Meltzer wrote.

He added that Theory “would have been in this match had Jacob Fatu not gotten hurt,” explaining that Fatu’s injury accelerated the Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre storyline and pushed Theory out of the WarGames lineup.

The masked figure struck again on Raw, attacking Rey Mysterio and later in the show stomping LA Knight’s head onto the announce desk while the referee was distracted. That interference allowed Logan Paul to land a frog splash and score the victory.

But fans have speculated that this time around, Montez Ford was under the mask rather than Austin Theory. While some have guessed that it could have been some other superstar.

The final moments of the show featured a vicious backstage attack on Knight by Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Paul.

The chaos ended with Reed climbing onto the roof of a car and delivering a massive Tsunami splash on Knight as General Manager Adam Pearce called for medical help.

Why is WWE using multiple people under the mask?

Reports say the tactic is meant to confuse fans by altering the masked man’s body type and movements.

Was Austin Theory confirmed to be the masked man at Survivor Series?

Yes. Dave Meltzer reported that Theory portrayed the character at Survivor Series: WarGames.

Will the masked man be revealed soon?

WWE has not announced a reveal date, suggesting the storyline may continue building suspense for weeks to come.
