The Final Boss made his return on the 02/21 episode of SmackDown

As announced by the WWE, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made his return on the 02/21 episode of SmackDown, and in his return the Final Boss made an electrifying announcement about the 42nd edition of WrestleMania.

The 02/21 episode of SmackDown aired live from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The show featured multiple matches and segments but the return of the Rock was what the New Orleans crowd was waiting for.

The Rock made his return debuting a revamped version of his iconic theme song featuring legendary rapper Lil Wayne. Since Wayne is from New Orleans, this collaboration was likely a one-time event.

This was Johnson’s first appearance since last month where he appeared during the Raw Netflix debut. In his return on SmackDown, Johnson made the highly awaited announcement of the 2026 edition of Mania coming to WrestleMania.

The 42nd edition of WrestleMania will take place in the iconic Ceasers Superdome in New Orleans, Louisana. Following in the recent trend the 42nd edition of Mania is scheduled for a two-night event on April 11 and 12, 2026. 

The Final Boss wants Cody Rhodes’ soul

Following the announcement, Johnson called out the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and made him an offer that seemingly puzzled the champion. Johnson mentioned their newfound bond and their friendship which has formed over the past year since WrestleMania 40.

Johnson had high praise for Rhodes and also noted that both their mother had formed a special bond. The Final Boss praised Rhodes as an outstanding champion but offered him the opportunity to become “his champion,” stating that it would boost Cody’s career and create opportunities for his family.

However, Cody declared himself the champion of the people. Johnson urged Cody to consider the offer and gave him time to think, with the final decision to be made at Elimination Chamber PLE.

When Rhodes brought up the Undisputed WWE Championship asking if Johnson wanted that, Johnson revealed his true intentions, saying, “No. I want your soul.” Johnson is now waiting for an answer at the Elimination Chamber PLE which will emanate from the Rogers Centre in Toronto on March 1.
