Should AEW sign Ronda Rousey full-time after her controversial comments about wrestling post WWE exit?

Ronda Rousey made an appearance during AEW Revolution.
The wrestling world was left stunned with the arrival of Ronda Rousey to AEW. She made an appearance in the Jacksonville-based promotion at the 2026 AEW Revolution pay-per-view.
The Baddest Woman on the Planet came out right after Timeless Toni Storm defeated her MMA cohort and close friend, Marina Shafir, in a singles match and called out The Hollywood Starlet back to the ring.
The Timeless One answered the call, and the duo was about to come to blows before the officials intervened to stop them. Rousey walked off with Shafir and even posted a photo with her from backstage on social media.
However, her appearance at Revolution drew loud boos and negative remarks, given that she had criticised the wrestling business for many years after her WWE exit.

Ronda Rousey could sign with AEW, but not full-time
Ronda Rousey left WWE in 2023 following her showdown with Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam. After that, she wrestled Marina Shafir in Ring of Honor, AEW’s sister promotion owned by Tony Khan.
However, it is no secret that Rousey has made derogatory comments about wrestling, especially WWE, calling it fake and not the real deal, and even shedding light on backstage politics in WWE. Moreover, she even claimed that none of the female stars could actually beat her in real-life. She has got a lot of backlash for the same.
At the same time, it was surprising to hear her comments, considering she had a great run in WWE. Rousey was part of the very first Women’s main event at WrestleMania 35.
Moreover, she won major championships and was heavily featured in top-tier storylines. However, Rousey had also said that she would be open to part-time schedules, but not a full-time one.
This could make her a good fit for Tony Khan’s AEW following her appearance at Revolution. Even in limited capacity, Rousey’s star power and fame could be highly beneficial for the upstart wrestling promotion.
She could help build the women’s division and put over stars like Marina Shafir, Willow Nightingale, Thekla, and more. Furthermore, The Rowdy One could pull in a lot of viewers for the AEW product with her appearances, while only having to work on specific dates.
At the same time, she could also have the freedom to pursue outside ventures, considering AEW’s flexibility and contractual freedom.
This could see her do more MMA fights, much like her upcoming blockbuster showdown against Gina Carano in May that will stream on Netflix. Overall, Ronda Rousey could be a top acquisition for All Elite Wrestling. Love her or hate her, Rousey is a box-office draw for any promotion she works for.
Tony Khan says Ronda Rousey is always welcome in AEW

During the Revolution post-show media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan was questioned about Rousey’s appearance. Khan said the door is always open for her in AEW, even noting Rousey’s appearances in AEW’s sister promotion ROH.
“Well, Ronda (Rousey) is a really good friend of Marina Shafir, and Marina brought her in as backup… Marina and Ronda are good friends. Ronda’s actually wrestled for me before, but never in AEW. Ronda wrestled in ROH. We had a great match a few years ago, also in Los Angeles.
It was Ronda and Marina teaming up in ROH against Billie Starkz and the World Champion Athena. I thought it was fantastic. I loved that match, and when Marina said Ronda was gonna be her backup, well, it’s like, okay, everyone’s banned from ringside… Ronda Rousey’s a huge star, so, we have a great relationship with her.“
He also revealed that Rousey has invited him to attend her upcoming MMA comeback bout against Gina Carano, scheduled for May 16.
“She’s wrestled for me before in ROH, and she’s always welcomed here in AEW anytime. She’s got a big fight coming up against Gina Carano and I don’t know Gina Carano at all. Ronda’s always been very good to me. I wish her the best.
I think that would be great. Ronda’s always welcome here and anybody from AEW that wants to attend that fight is welcome to do so. Ronda may invite some people. Ronda invited me to the fight tonight. So, I guess so, yes, sounds like we’re gonna be there.”
