Watch: Saweety Boora accuses Hisar Police of inaction, harassment in dowry case against husband Deepak Hooda

Saweety Boora and Deepak Hooda tied the knot in 2022.
Former boxing world champion Saweety Boora has publicly accused Hisar police of failing to take action against her husband, former Indian kabaddi team captain Deepak Niwas Hooda, in a dowry harassment case filed in February.
During a press conference Sunday, Boora alleged authorities have not interrogated Hooda despite her formal complaint to Hisar Superintendent of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan nearly 45 days ago.
“On March 11, I informed the Hisar SP that I no longer want to live with him. I don’t want a single penny from him—just a divorce and my belongings. I submitted a partial list of my belongings, but no action has been taken in over a month… I appeal to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji and our Home Minister for justice. I initially kept quiet, hoping for a peaceful resolution…” Boora stated as quoted by IANS on X (Twitter).
The situation escalated when Boora claims she was called to the Hisar women’s police station on March 15, where she discovered Hooda had already filed countercharges against her.
“The police officials have failed to interrogate Deepak Hooda in the last 45 days. Instead, on March 15, the police officials called me to Hisar women’s police station where Deepak was already present. He lodged a false case against me, my father Mahender Singh and maternal uncle Satyawan alleging misbehaviour and injuries.
“The police booked us in the false case and two days ago, we were forced to sit in Hisar Sadar police station for a day and were released after we got bail. The accused is roaming freely, and the SP has failed to act against him,” she alleged as per Hindustan Times.
This confrontation follows Boora’s initial FIR against Hooda in February, where she accused him and his family of assaulting her for dowry. SHO Seema of the women’s police station in Hisar confirmed an FIR was filed on February 25. “An FIR dated February 25 has been lodged based on the complaint given by Saweety Boora against her husband Deepak Hooda. We gave him notice 2-3 times, but he did not turn up,” Seema said.
When contacted in February, Hooda told PTI he would not speak negatively about his wife, citing illness and requesting a postponement. “I have submitted a medical certificate and requested a later date. I will certainly go there (to the police station) but I won’t make a negative comment against my wife. I have not been allowed to meet her,” Hooda stated.
The marriage between the two accomplished athletes took place on July 7, 2022, and both athletes are recipients of the Arjuna Award. Saweety Boora is the Arjuna Award 2024 Awardee, while Deepak Hooda received it in 2020.
