World Archery Championships 2023: Full Schedule, Fixtures, Result, Live Streaming Details

India has won 11 medals so far in the competition

World Archery Championships 2023 will take place in Berlin, Germany from 31 July to 6 August 2023. The prestigious tournament is held biennially. India has never won the gold medal in this event. With the presence of India's most successful Archer at the global stage, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Abhishek Verma, India would look to end its wait for the maiden gold medal at the Archery World Championships 2023

India at the World Archery Championships

In the last edition, India has won three silver medals. Jyothi Surekha Vennam won the silver Medal in the Women's Individual event after losing to Sara Lopez (144-146). She also won the Silver Medal in the women's Team which comprising of Priya Gurjar and Muskan Kirar who lost to Colombia (224-229) in the finals. In the Mixed Team event, Jyothi and Abhishek Verma too combined to win silver; losing to the Colombian team of Sara Lopez and Daniel Munoz (150-154).

The Recurve team disappointed as they failed to win a single medal in the 2021 edition. The best performer was Ankita Bhagat who lost in the quarter-finals to Casey Kaufhold of USA (2-6). She defeated 2019 World Silver Medalist Kang Chae Young in the Round of 16.

India at the World Archery Championships 2023

India is sending a strong squad of 12 members to the Archery World Championships 2023. All eyes will be on the compound team as they are in good form. Prathamesh Jawkar, Jyothi and Abhishek have won medals in the the World Cup Stages this year and look in good shape. While Jyothi and Praveen Ojas have won back to back mixed team titles, Aditi Gopichand recently created U-18 World Record in the Qualification rounds (711).

The recurve team would need to step up after poor performances earlier this year in the Asia and World Cups. All eyes will be on Dhiraj Bommadevara, who won the bronze in the Archery World Cup 2023 Stage 1 in Antalya, Turkey.
