Experienced archer Atanu Das returns back to the squad.

Archery World Cup 2023 Stage 4 is scheduled to take place in Paris, France from August 15 to 20. This will be the last chance for the athletes to grab the qualification spot for the Archery World Cup final which will be held in Mexico next month. The top eight athletes in each discipline qualify for the Archery World Cup final either winning the World Cup or by taking rankings into account.

Three Indians have so far qualified for the finals consisting of Abhishek Verma, Prathamesh Samadhan Jawkar (Men’s Compound Individual) and Jyothi Surekha Vennam (Women’s Compound Individual). Avneet Kaur (Women’s Compound Individual) and Dhiraj Bommadevara (Men’s Recurve Individual) can qualify via rankings route and are currently placed fifth and sixth respectively in the road to final rankings. A deep run from them at the upcoming World Cup can ensure them a spot in the finals.

India at Archery World Cup 2023 Stage 4

India will be sending a 16-member contingent to the Archery World Cup 2023 Stage 4 in Paris. Recurve team has the last chance to shine this year as they have underperformed for the whole season. At the recently concluded World Championships, the recurve team failed to win a medal and also lost chances of securing quota for Paris 2024. With the return of Atanu Das, the recurve men’s team looks strong as compared to the World Championships squad.

On the other hand, the compound team put up a splendid show at the World Championships having won three gold medals and one bronze medal. The onus will be on them once again to deliver the goods and finish the series on a high. Aditi Gopichand will have a huge test as she will be in the limelight after becoming the youngest Indian to win the World Championships.
