Archery World Cup 2023 Stage 4 Paris: Full list of medal winners from India

Jyothi Surekha Vennam won the lone individual medal for India.
The Archery World Cup 2023 Stage 4 took place in Paris, France between August 15 to 20. India sent a 16-member contingent to the event which saw the return of experienced archer Atanu Das. The World Cup concluded on a bright note for India, who secured five medals (2 Gold and 3 Bronze). After a below average performance at the World Archery Championships 2023 two weeks back, the recurve team bounced back to win two medals through the team event while compound archery continued their prime form.
India medalled in five different events at the Archery World Cup 2023 Stage 4. This list features the archers who won the medals.

Men’s Compound Team
The men’s team consisting of Abhishek Verma, Pravin Deotale and Prathamesh Jawkar went on to win the gold medal after defeating second seed USA 236 -232 in the final. Seeded fourth, India started off their journey by defeating Italy (239-235) and in the following round got the better of fifth seed Mexico (237-235).
The trio maintained grit to beat top seed Korea in the semi-finals via a shoot-off by securing a closer inner 10 and eventually USA to win the gold.

Women’s Compound Team
Women’s compound team started exactly from where they left off at the Archery World Championships held earlier this month. The Indian trio comprising Parneet Kaur, Aditi Swami Gopichand and Jyothi Surekha Vennam bagged the gold medal after defeating third seed and WR-1 Mexico (234-233).
Top seeds India received a bye in the opening round followed by a win against Estonia (233-230) in the quarter-finals and Great Britain (234-233) in the semi-finals.
Tough conditions prevailed in the finals with heavy wind passing by. Eventually after trailing in the penultimate series, India fought hard to get back lead and win the final in style.
Jyothi Surekha Vennam – Women’s Compound Individual
World Championships 2023 bronze medallist, Jyothi Surekha Vennam defeated Poon Chiu Yee of Hong Kong by 145-132 in the opening round. She went on to beat Chen Li Jue and Huang I Jou of Chinese Taipei by 148-145 and 148-145 respectively in the second two rounds. In quarter-finals, she defeated Dafne Quintero of Mexico by 147-144.
Jyothi, seeded first, lost to WR-1 Ella Gibson in the semis by 148-150. However, she went on to clinch the bronze by defeating second seed and WR 2 Sara Lopez of Colombia via a shoot off (146-146) in the bronze medal match.
Men’s Recurve Team
The Men’s recurve trio consisting of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Atanu Das and Tushar Shalke defeated Spain 6-2 to clinch the bronze medal. The second seeds received a bye in the opening round and in the following rounds defeated Mexico (6-2) and Canada (5-1) respectively. Their unbeaten run was halted in the semi-finals by 11th seed Chinese Taipei (0-6).
However, the trio bounced back to win the bronze medal by overcoming Spain after initially trailing by (0-2).
Women’s Recurve Team
Women’s trio consisting of Bhajan Kaur, Simranjeet Singh and Ankita Bhakat overcame the Mexico hurdle in the bronze medal match to win in the shoot off (5-4) after trailing (0-4). Seeded sixth, India received a bye in the opening round and in the following rounds beat Japan (6-2) and Italy (5-1) respectively.
Similar to the Men’s Recurve Team, the Women’s team too couldn’t cross the seventh seed Chinese Taipei hurdle but bounced back to clinch the bronze medal against Mexico.
The final stage of Archery World Cup Stage 4 has proved to be beneficial for team India with some fantastic performances. The recurve team in particular will gain valuable points which shall boost their rankings for the upcoming tournament and more importantly the Archery World Cup Finals scheduled to be held next month.
