In a record breaking final day, Indian archers clinched seven medals at the Taipei Archery Open 2023 – World Indoor Series 250 event. Sachin Chaudhary started the proceedings by winning the gold medal defeating Hao-An Lu (148-143) in men’s U-21 compound archery.
Bhajan Kaur who finished first in the qualification round, continued her sublime form and secured the top spot by beating Fong You Jhu (7-1) in women’s U-21 recurve archery. She is the only Indian recurve archer to bag gold in the tournament with Goldi Mishra settling for bronze in the U-21 men’s section.
Later in the day, the senior compound team put up a tremendous show led by Parneet Kaur. The youngster is having a dream season this year. A month back she won the gold medal at Asian Archery Championships and now beat Asian Games 2023 champion Jyothi Surekha Vennam in a close encounter (146-145) in the final.
Three Indian compound archers finished in the top three at the end of the qualification round – Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur and Muskan Kirar. Unfortunately, Muskan had to bow out in the pre-quarterfinals losing in the shoot-off.
