The Indian men’s recurve team will face South Korea in the final of the Archery World Cup Stage 1 on Sunday.

The Indian contingent at the 2024 Archery World Cup Stage 1 has been performing exceptionally well. On Day 4, India won their first gold medal after Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand Swami and Parneet Kaur defeated the Italian trio of Marcella Tonioli, Irene Franchini and Elisa Roner 236-225 to win the women’s team compound event.

The Indian trio dropped only four points as they recorded a fairly comfortable win over Italy. After opening the account with a gold medal, the men’s team of Abhishek Verma, Priyansh and Prathamesh Fuge also secured first place by beating the Dutch trio of Mike Schloesser, Sil Pater and Stef Willems 238–231 in the final of the men’s team compound event.

The third medal in the morning session was won by the Indian pair of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Abhishek Verma, who defeated Estonia’s Lisell Jaatma and Robin Jaatma 158-157 in the closely-contested final of the mixed team compound event.

However, India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam later completed her treble with her win over Mexico’s Andrea Becerra in a close shoot-off of 146 (9*)-146 (9). Both archers shot a nine in the shoot-off; however, Jyothi’s arrow was closer to the inner ring. Despite trailing 87-88 after the three initial rounds, Vennam managed to craft a comeback and win the match.
