Asian Games 2026: India's archers nail gold in men's compound team event
Indian women’s and mixed compound teams also defended their gold medals
The Indian men’s compound archery team of Kushal Dalal, Sahil Jadhav, and Thirumuru Ganesh Mani Ratnam clinched the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya on Wednesday, September 30.
Team India produced a dramatic comeback to beat the Chinese team comprising Jiahao Liao, Jinyi Liu, and Jingyu Shi 238-237. The one-point victory completed a hat-trick of gold medals for India’s compound archers at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.

Earlier in the tournament, the Indian women’s and mixed archery teams won gold medals in the compound team events. This means that India retained all three compound team titles that they had won at the Hangzhou 2022 Games.

Team India stage comeback

The Chinese team controlled the final for long stretches at the Okazaki Central Park Multipurpose Square, with India trailing 58-60 after the opening end. The Indian team responded with six perfect 10s in the next end, although they still trailed 120-118.
The deficit was reduced to just one point after the third end, but India were still behind 179-178. After Liao shot an 8, the Indian archers shot six perfect 10s. As a result, India took the lead for the first time and finished with 238 points, while China finished with 237.
Earlier in the tournament, the men’s team defeated Bhutan 235-232 in the quarter-finals. They then defeated the South Korean team comprising Choi Eun Gyu, Choi Yonghee, and Kim Jongho 236-229 in the semi-finals.
