The man in form has scored a total of three goals in seven appearances for the Red Miners.

Michael Soosairaj, a name which many didn’t know, when around two years back the lad who hails from the southern parts of India joined I-League side Chennai City. He couldn’t make quite a big impact in his first season with Chennai, but his big break came in the second campaign when he received the “I-League Midfielder of the Season (2017-18).”

Soosairaj came into prominence post that recognition and it was then only a matter of time that some big ISL club would pounce on him to take him under their belt. The winner of this race were none other than the newest franchise in the league, the Men of Steel. He joined the Jamshedpur side in March 2018 post their first season in the league, which was a hit as well as a miss for them.

He came with big promise and the Red Miners were eager to see the man donning their colours and stepping out on the pitch. He also had a big void to fill, as one of the major weaknesses of the Jamshedpur side in their first season was the lack of precision in crosses and attacking prowess in their wingers or wide midfielders. Soosairaj being a wide left midfielder by trade was bought in to fill this vaccum.

The wish of the Red Miners finally came true when he was handed his first start by Spanish gaffer Cesar Ferrando, in Jamshedpur’s second game of the season against Bengaluru FC.

His first goal and also one of his best performances in the ISL this season came against Kerala Blasters, when he curled the ball beautifully inside the net past the gloves of Naveen Kumar. Though the match ended in a 2-2 draw, he bagged the “Emerging Player of the Match” award in that game. His best performance in the league as of now came in the astounding 4-1 victory of the Men of Steel against FC Goa, where he was declared the “ Hero of the Match” owing to a brace which he scored against the Gaurs and his all-around performance.

The man in form has scored a total of three goals in seven appearances for the Red Miners and has a terrific ratio of goals scored to shots on goals of 75%, showing how clinical he is in the box. Also, his 58% pass completion ratio flaunts his passing accuracy none the less. His surging runs, mazy dribbles and cut-ins inside the box are giving a real tough time toopposition defenders and he is proving to be a menace on the wings.

Though, this may be just his first season in the ISL, he is already making the headlines. Also, considering his continued good form from winning the “I-League Midfielder of the Season” to his spoils in the ISL this campaign, it's only a matter of time that he gets a call from the national camp and with the AFC Asian Cup fast approaching, the Indian Football Team coach Stephen Constantine would not want to miss out on such a young hotshot talent.
