The midfielder started his football career at a very young age, representing his school in Subroto Cup and going on to join the AIFF Elite Academy. One of the most exciting talents in the Academy, Lalengmawia was then promoted to AIFF’s developmental side in, Indian Arrows in 2017 at the age of 16.
Since then, the Mizoram lad appeared 13 times under Floyd Pinto in the I-League where his performances turned the attention of several senior clubs.
