NorthEast United have begun with their transfer business for next season of Indian Super League (ISL), bringing in teenage prospect, Lalengmawia, from Indian Arrows. The 18-year-old put pen to paper as he looks forward to his first stint in the ISL after spending a couple of seasons with the Arrows in the I-League.

The midfielder started his football career at a very young age, representing his school in Subroto Cup and going on to join the AIFF Elite Academy. One of the most exciting talents in the Academy, Lalengmawia was then promoted to AIFF’s developmental side in, Indian Arrows in 2017 at the age of 16.

Since then, the Mizoram lad appeared 13 times under Floyd Pinto in the I-League where his performances turned the attention of several senior clubs. Moreover, the player has also represented the national team at the under-17 level on 25 occasions. Not to forget, he was also a part of the Indian team which featured in the U17 FIFA World Cup back in 2017.

Coming to NorthEast, Lalengmawia will have a great opportunity to showcase his talent before the new head coach, who is yet to be appointed by the club following the departure of Eelco Schattorie. However, it will be a tough task for the youngster to break into the first team immediately, considering his age and experience.

Yet, based purely on merit and the way he performs in the training sessions and the preseason, this is an excellent opportunity for Lalengmawia to make a name for himself and go on to become one of the hottest prospects in the country in the near future.
