The Belgian all but confirms his move away from Stamford Bridge in the upcoming days.

The transfer saga of Eden Hazard has prolonged for a few years now, and his apparent move to Real Madrid has been the source of frustration for a myriad of Chelsea fans. Speaking after the final Premier League fixture of the season, the winger confirmed that he has informed the club about his decision moving forward.

Speaking to the media after their 0-0 draw with Leicester City, the playmaker said, “I’m still waiting [for the situation to develop]. Yes [I told the club] a couple of weeks ago. I have made my decision but it is not just about me. We have a final to play and then I will see. I wanted that [to have the situation sorted out] but that’s not happened. I’m still waiting like you are waiting and like the fans are waiting.”

The 28-year-old played a huge role over the course of the season by scoring 16 goals and assisting another 15 in the league itself that helped his side achieve UEFA Champions League qualification for the next campaign after securing the third spot in the final standings.

However, the midfielder has rendered the European qualification as irrelevant in convincing him to further his stay at the London-based club. Speaking in that context, he said, “No, I don’t think so...I have made my decision, that’s it.”

Upon being asked about his thoughts regarding the future and whether it has played as a distraction for him, the winger responded by saying, "I have never, never been distracted. When you are on the pitch, you try to be focused on the pitch with the ball. That’s it.”

"When I am on the pitch I just try to do the best. I am not thinking about this and this, my situation or the club’s situation. I just try to win games” concluded the four-time Chelsea Player of the Year awardee.

The fans are still hoping for a miracle where their star player signs a new contract with the club. Despite the inevitability of his move to Spain, replacing him would be a daunting task for Maurizio Sarri. While his current deal is set to end in 2020, the former Lille man is valued by his current employers at £112 million.

The next fixture for the West Londoners is the UEFA Europa League final against their city rivals, Arsenal, and it may well be the last time we see Hazard in the blue of Chelsea. A win and a European trophy might be the perfect parting gift for the fans from the player who has spent seven years at the club.
