You have to give your 100% or there is no chance- Rowlin Borges
The midfielder has been one of the pillars of NorthEast United this season.
After a disappointing Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 season where they ended at the bottom of the table, NorthEast United FC will be raring to go against Gokulam Kerala FC at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar in the second qualifier of the Hero Super Cup on Thursday. The Highlanders will be looking to end their consecutive eight-match winless run with an inspired performance both in defence and attack. A steady figure in the midfield for NorthEast this season has been their 25-year-old midfielder Rowllin Borges, who spoke to supercup.in prior to the knockout fixture. Here are the excerpts.
How are you looking forward to the new tournament?
Yes, we are looking forward to it. We want to win this tournament because we had a very bad ISL this season. So we want to give everything in this tournament.
As this Cup has a different format, are you looking to do something different here?
The thing that is different here is that you have to win every match, that’s for sure. The only thing is that on the matchday you have to give everything. No matter whether it’s an I-League team or an ISL team, you have to give your 100% or there’s no chance.

How different is it to go against an opponent whom you have never met before?
It’s different, but the thing that matters the most is which team goes all out and gives everything on the field. So, the team which will give their best on the matchday will win the game.
Any personal goals from this tournament?
My personal goal is to give my everything for the team and help them win this Cup. Also, to work together as a group which can win tournaments.
