Transfer Round Up: Nasri to West Ham United, Pulisic to Chelsea
It has been just two days since the start of the January window and high-profile transfers have started rolling in.
The start of the new year means a new beginning and a chance for the clubs to seek the opportunity to make the tweaks required in their squad as the transfer window re-opens.
Chelsea have struck the first major deal in this window as the Blues have secured the services of the United States biggest footballing star and Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic for a fee of £58m. The 20-year old is currently loaned back to Dortmund till the end of this season. Pulisic was out of favour under Dortmund's new boss Lucien Favre. He mainly preferred the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jacob Brun Larsen due to their stunning form this season.
Out of favour Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas is set to join French side AS Monaco. French newspaper L'Équipe has reported that Monaco boss Thierry Henry is interested in the midfielder and the deal will be confirmed as early as in next week. Fabregas is playing the second fiddle to Jorginho under Maurizio Sarri and with the Spaniard being 31-year old already it is improbable that the club will extend his contract any further.
Thierry Henry's wishlist also includes former Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho. There is a reason why Monaco are struggling to find their way back in the league and it is mostly because of their unstable backline. Sakho fits the bill for Henry but the deal won't be as easy as Fabregas. Crystal Palace paid a handsome fee of £30million to sign the Frenchman from Liverpool permanently and with the Eagles themselves in a tight spot in the Premier League, Monaco will have to make a stunning deal to get their man.
According to SPORT, Arsenal have placed a bid of around £14 million to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas. The Costa Rican played a crucial role for the Los Blancos in their triple Champions League conquest. However, things have not gone his way since then as the goalkeeper struggles to find game time in Madrid.
Thibaut Courtois arrival from Chelsea was the turning point which made him the second choice custodian at the club and with his social media post saying "Gracias por Todo" meaning Thank you for everything suggests that the Costa Rican is on his way out of Spain.

Manchester United, on the other hand, is still looking for defensive reinforcements. Defence has been the issue for the Red Devils this season and current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to address the situation by bringing in one or two solid centre-backs in the transfer window.
According to Don Balon, both Manchester United and Real Madrid lead the race to sign FC Porto defender Eder Militao. The 20-year old has a released clause of £45million in his current contract which Manchester United are prepared to meet.
Speaking more about Manchester United there is shock speculation that is coming our way as the Red Devils add Redbull Salzburg boss Marco Rose in their shortlist of managers set to take over from caretaker manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer. The list includes names like Zinedine Zidane, Laurent Blanc and Solskjaer himself as candidates. However, the board still prefers Mauricio Pochettino as their preferred choice despite Tottenham's reluctance to deal with the Red Devils.
