India has won a total of 81 medals till date in this continental meet.

India achieved a record-breaking day at the Asian Games 2023 by surpassing their previous medals tally record of 70, achieved at the 2018 Asian Games. They have now won an impressive 81 medals in Hangzhou, making it the highest tally for the country in a single edition of the Asian Games. Notably, India also set a new record with 18 gold medals in a single edition.

Key highlights of the day included Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Kumar Jena securing India's maiden 1-2 finish in men's javelin throw, both meeting the entry standard for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Despite initial technical difficulties, reigning world champion Neeraj Chopra successfully defended his title. The men's 4x400m relay team upgraded to gold, surpassing their silver performance at the 2018 Asian Games.

The women's 4x400m relay team clinched silver. Avinash Sable and Harmilan Bains each won a silver, doubling their medal tally at the 19th Asian Games. Harmilan's silver in the women's 800m mirrored her mother Madhuri Singh's achievement at the 2002 Asian Games.

Archers Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Ojas Pravin Deotale secured the mixed team compound gold medal. Anahat Singh made history as India's youngest medallist in Asian Games history, earning a squash mixed doubles bronze with Abhay Singh.

Saurav Ghosal continued his impressive streak by winning the semi-final and securing his fifth consecutive Asian Games singles medal. Lovlina Borgohain reached the women's 75kg boxing final, securing a silver on her Asian Games debut, while Parveen Hooda claimed a bronze. Sunil Kumar initiated India's wrestling tally with a bronze in the Greco-Roman category.

The Indian men's hockey team advanced to the gold medal match with a 5-3 victory over the Republic of Korea in the semi-finals. The women's kabaddi team also progressed to the semi-finals, securing a medal, while the men's kabaddi team blanked Thailand.

In badminton, PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy excelled in singles, as did the men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who made it to the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, Kidambi Srikanth was eliminated in the round of 16, and the women's and mixed doubles campaigns came to an end.

Bridge

The Indian men's bridge team outscored China 180.6-170 after 96 boards in the semi-final, advancing to the final at the Asian Games 2023. India will go up against Hong Kong China in the men's bridge team final. The final tie will consist of six sessions, while the top-scoring team win the gold.

Chess

The Indian men's chess team drew 2.0-2.0 against China in round 6 at the Asian Games 2023. All four Indian Grandmasters, including Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, were held to a draw by their Chinese counterparts. However, India still remains second in the standings behind IR Iran.

India, meanwhile, won 4.0-0.0 against Uzbekistan in the women's chess team round 6 today at Hangzhou. The victory took them to second position in the standings, one point behind China.
