The Indian army is renowned for its unwavering dedication, serving as the guardians of the nation while upholding the flag of the country. Their remarkable resilience and commitment deserve commendation. During the Asian Para Games 2023, the Indian contingent achieved a historic milestone, securing a total of 111 medals, including 29 gold, 31 silver, and 51 bronze medals, surpassing their previous best of 72 medals from the Jakarta edition.

Solairaj Dharmaraj

Solairaj Dharmaraj clinched a gold medal in the Men’s long jump T-64 event, setting a new record for both the Asian and Para Games with a remarkable jump of 6.80m.

Soman Rana and Hokato Sema Hotozhe

Both Soman Rana and Hokato Sema Hotozhe participated in the Men’s Shot Put F57 event, with Rana securing silver with a throw of 14.14m and Hokato clinching bronze with a throw of 13.94m. The gold in this event went to Iran’s Yasin Khosravi, who achieved a throw of 16.00m. Notably, Hokato Sema Hotozhe, a Havildar at 9 Assam Regiment, became the first-ever Asian Games medalist from Nagaland.

Narayan Konganpalle

Narayan Konganpalle, alongside Anita, secured the silver medal in the PR3 Mixed Double Sculls event with a timing of 8:50.71, marking India’s sole medal in rowing at the event.

Ajay Kumar

Ajay Kumar finished second in the Men’s 400m T64 event, recording a time of 54.85 seconds. Asana Nour Mohammad from Saudi Arabia secured the gold, while the bronze went to Seapla Jafa from Thailand.

Suraj Singh

Suraj Singh, a para archer, claimed the silver medal in the Men’s Doubles Compound event. He and teammate Rakesh Kumar faced a close defeat to China’s Ai Xinliang and He Zihao with a scoreline of 150-155 points.

Unni Renu

Unni Renu competed in the Men’s High Jump T64 event, earning a well-deserved bronze medal with a jump of 1.95m. His teammate Praveen Kumar secured the gold by leaping 2.02 meters, ensuring a double podium finish in this event.

These extraordinary achievements by Indian army personnel exemplify their dedication and prowess on the international sporting stage.
