Athletes from all participating nations will turn up for one final time at the Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, to bid goodbye to the competition that was their stage for the last 15 days.

The ceremony will follow the usual closing format, with athletes walking into the stadium together, with each nation’s flag carried by a chosen athlete.

India has named history-maker Neeru Dhanda as its female flagbearer for the closing ceremony. Dhanda became the first Indian woman to win an individual trap gold at the Asian Games.

She also clinched silver in the women’s trap team event alongside Manisha Keer and Aashima Ahlawat, before concluding her superb campaign with another gold in the mixed team trap event alongside Kynan Chenai.

The Indian Olympic Association is also expected to announce a male flagbearer to partner Dhanda in the closing ceremony.

The main moment of the night will be the handover to the next host. As tradition demands, the Asian Games flag will be passed on to the next host, in this case, Doha, who will host the 2030 edition.
