The day began with Kumkum Mohod creating history in women’s individual recurve archery. The 17-year-old defeated South Korea’s Oh Yejin in a shoot-off to win gold, becoming the first Indian to win an individual recurve gold at the Asian Games. The victory also secured an Olympic quota place for India for LA 2028.

In the men’s individual recurve event, India also secured a medal. Neeraj Chauhan defeated compatriot Dhiraj Bommadevara 6-4 in the bronze-medal match after both Indians lost their respective semi-finals. Dhiraj therefore finished fourth, while Neeraj added another bronze to India’s tally.

Golf produced another historic moment as Pranavi Urs became the first Indian woman to win individual golf gold at the Asian Games.

She finished at 15-under 265, one stroke ahead of the chasing pack. India also secured silver in the women’s team event through Pranavi, Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar, finishing behind China.

India completed a cricket gold double after the men’s team defeated Pakistan in the final, adding to the women’s team’s gold earlier in the Games. India defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in the men’s final after posting 211/6.

Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma played crucial knocks as India defended the total to win gold. The victory meant both the Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams finished as Asian Games champions.

Wrestling added another three medals. Aman Sehrawat won gold in the men’s 57kg freestyle category after defeating North Korea’s Han Chong Song 11-7 in the final. Aman had earlier won bronze at the Hangzhou Asian Games, making the upgrade to gold particularly significant.

Antim Panghal won silver in women’s 53kg after losing 1-9 to Japan’s Moe Kiyooka in the final. Deepak Punia added bronze in men’s 97kg freestyle, defeating Mongolia’s Gankhuyag Ganbaatar 2-1. The medal was India’s first in the men’s 97kg category at the Asian Games since 1966.

Sagar Jaglan missed out on a medal after losing his 74kg bronze-medal bout, while Manisha Bhanwala was eliminated in the women’s 57kg quarter-finals.

The biggest moment of the day came in men’s hockey. India defeated Malaysia 5-1 in the final to successfully defend their Asian Games title for the first time. Harmanpreet Singh’s team also secured direct qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

The victory gave India their fifth men’s hockey gold at the Asian Games and made 2026 the first edition in which both India’s men’s and women’s hockey teams won gold.

The women’s rugby sevens team finished sixth after losing 0-21 to Kazakhstan in the fifth-place match. The men’s volleyball team also finished sixth after a 2-3 defeat to Thailand.

In sailing, Mahi Verma finished eighth overall in the girls’ dinghy/ILCA 4 event, while Katya Coelho finished seventh in women’s windsurfing/IQFOIL.

In taekwondo, Kashish Malik and Jyoti Yadav were unable to progress to the medal rounds, ending India’s campaign in the sport without a final-day medal.
