The Indian contingent will head into Day 10 of Asian Games 2026, hoping to breach the 50-medal mark and improve their position in the overall tally.
With Tuesday set to be the final day of athletics action, as many as nine medal events are lined up in the discipline, with India set to contest for medals in all nine events.

Among the prominent Indian names in action, Avinash Sable and Gulveer Singh will return to the track—with the latter eyeing a hat-trick of medals, while Sable will hope to look past his fourth-place finish in the men’s 3000m steeplechase and bag his first medal at the 2026 Asian Games—for the men’s 5000m final.
Sable is the reigning silver medallist while Gulveer had finished fourth in the event in Hangzhou. The 28-year-old won bronze in the event at the Birmingham CWG last month.
Also in action will be the pole vault duo of Dev Meena and Kuldeep Kumar. Both Meena and Kuldeep have been flying in 2026 and will hope to replicate that form in Japan.

All three relay finals on Tuesday (September 29) will see Indian participation. India are the defending champions in the men’s 4x400m event while they clinched silvers in the women’s 4x400m and mixed 4x400m events in Hangzhou.
Moving away from athletics, the trap individual and shotgun finals in both men’s and women’s will take place on Day 10, while as many as three Indian boxers could guarantee silver medals if they win their respective semi-final bouts.
India will also be in tennis action, competing in all five categories on Tuesday, while squash will also continue with the Indian women taking on Iran in their final Pool C match. Both India’s men’s and women’s squash teams have already qualified for the quarter-finals.
