India registered four gold medals on Wednesday to jump to eighth place in the medal tally at Asian Games 2026, while also lifting its total count to 60 medals.
Archers starred with three consecutive golds in compound archery and will hope to keep that momentum going heading into the individual events on Day 12.
All three compound archery teams—men’s, women’s and mixed—successfully defended their titles from the 2022 edition and will want a repeat of that in the individual events, where also India are the reigning gold medallist in both men’s and women’s events.

India clinched nine archery medals, seven of those coming in archery, in Hangzhou 2022 and will want to at least match that number if not better it. Apart from defending their gold, the Indian mixed compound team of Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav also secured a quota for LA 2028.
Chikitha Taniparthi will also be in action in the women’s individual compound quarter-finals while Ganesh Thirumuru will be in action in the men’s individual compound event.
Anish Bhanwala will be lone Indian shooter in action on the final day of the sport in Aichi-Nagoya. Bhanwala will hope to medal in the 25m rapid fire pistol event.
After Sunil Kumar’s historic bronze medal in Greco-Roman yesterday, three more Indian wrestlers will be in action in the category. Wrestling will be India’s main medal event with as many as four wrestlers in the action.

Meanwhile, medal could also be guaranteed in hockey, with the men’s hockey team facing Pakistan in the semi-finals. India ae the defending champions in men’s hockey. Also facing Pakistan are the Indian men’s volleyball team for a place in the semi-finals.
In semi-final action will be the squash teams, with the men’s team facing Malaysia while the women take on Hong Kong. Both teams have already confirmed medals and will want to reach the final.
The Indian men’s cricket team will also be in action facing Sri Lanka in the semi-finals. India are the reigning gold medallsts and favourites to defend their gold medal.
Among the sports, where India will start their campaign today are judo, taekwondo and rugby sevens.
