After success in shooting on day 1, Monday could bring more joy as India heads into the second day of the Asian Games 2026 with two medal events in shooting, among other disciplines.
Elavenil Valarivan’s maiden Asian Games medal—a silver in women’s 10m air rifle—as well as the silver medal in the team event, saw India end day one with two medals and a top 10 spot in the overall medal tally.

India will hope to double that number on Day 2, with medal opportunities available in wushu, shooting, swimming as well as mixed martial arts (MMA).
In MMA, Suchika Tariyal, who secured a bronze yesterday, will compete for a place in the final in the women’s traditional 60kg category. Whatever the result, she will return from Aichi-Nagoya as India’s first-ever Asian Games medallist in the sport. The 36-year-old will hope to improve the colour to gold.

Former world champion Rudrannksh Patil will be India’s biggest medal hope in shooting, with the men’s 10m air rifle and shotgun skeet events set to get underway on Monday.
The qualification events will also serve as the team final, allowing Indian shooters to bag multiple medals in the same event.
While medal hopes seem far-fetched in swimming, Indian swimmers will hope to break the jinx. India have not medalled in swimming since 2014, while a gold medal dates back 1951.
